Infection Free Zone – Things You Should to Know

Useful Hints about Secret Mechanics

The game isn’t finished yet, but players can use some mechanics to quickly start building the perfect base:

Infected priority for attacking:

  • Scavenging squads are around; if the horde sees two squads, they switch targets. If the first squad runs, dies, or hides in a building, the horde adapts.
  • Build gates and towers if the perimeter isn’t fully closed.
  • Erect any nearby walls if the perimeter is closed.

If you haven’t closed the perimeter completely, you can create a labyrinth with walls and turn defense into a tower defense game. The labyrinth must be created in an open place, surrounded by towers or squads for farming experience.

If you connect walls with other buildings, try connecting neutral buildings because infected can damage them from outside. Only neutral buildings are immortal, and infected try to enter from the entrance. Avoid creating a closed perimeter with second walls without a gate or hole; your people might get stuck inside if there are more than one worker. Try not to build towers too close to other structures, or you might trap people between them.

Inside a building, all armed enemies can’t attack your squad if they’re not inside.

If you place an HQ or adapt a half or part of a building, when that building operates, you can place some constructions with full adaptation. After canceling it, all buildings will be operational. This is a bug, and I’ve reported it.

You can create a labyrinth for tower defense with unfinished walls. If the wall is completed with one resource, it exists, and if the perimeter isn’t closed, infected will ignore that wall.

Be careful with quests. All quests will bug if the destination for the quest is placed on a building where your squad is scavenging 100%. I’ve reported this bug, but it still exists.

Quests bug

That’s a bug with quests if the marker is placed on a building with 100% scavenging.

Bonus tips

You can produce nearly infinite amounts of ammo much faster than you spend them.

Produce fertilizer via barns, use it to produce fuel, then 1 fuel+ 1steel can be used to produce 400 bullets.
As for ‘seeing the base flooded’, that is just means you need to improve your defense layout, use multiple layers of walls and use better weapons.

The most advanced towers also take a long time to be brought down and you can create situations where you only repair a few each 1-2 days.

Proximity to warehouses also reduces the time it takes to repair/build, so plan accordingly.

Advanced walls aren’t that good compared to brick walls. Sure they have more HP, however they take MUCH LONGER to be repaired. Also, bricks are a resource that can be harvested in far greater quantities than wood and steel. Typically, my workers with the +20 to 40% efficiency bonus from living in houses, repair a wall in a single day, provided the warehouse is relatively close.

Squads are better than towers. Move your squads (armed with sniper rifles) around to deal with hordes.
