Abiotic Factor – How to Increase FPS

How to Improve the Games Performance

To optimize performance for the game, I followed a series of steps:

  • In the Steam advanced launch options, I applied (-autoconfig -graphics-low).
  • Set all in-game graphics settings to their lowest and/or off, except for view distance and FOV, which I kept at maximum.
  • Disabled Steam Input.

Installed the following programs from the Microsoft Store:

  • MPEG-2 video extension
  • OpenCL, OpenGL, and Vulkan compatibility pack
  • Windows Application Compatibility Enhancements
  • Intel Graphics Command Center (Beta)
Then, double-checked to ensure everything was up to date.

Used IObit Software Updater to check for and update any programs that were missed by the Microsoft Store update sweep/checks.

In the Intel Graphics Command Center (Beta) program:

  • Set global settings as follows:
    • Instant game tuning = On
    • Adaptive tessellation = On
    • Retro scaling = Scaled width
    • Smart VSync = Enable
  • In the Video settings, set the input range to Full.
  • Enabled hotkeys in the System settings.
  • In the “On Battery” section of Power settings:
    • Power Plans = Maximum Performance
    • Display Power Savings = On
    • Power Efficiency = 6 (maximum)
    • Enhanced Power Saving = On
  • In the “Plugged In” section of Power settings:
    • Power Plans = Maximum Battery Life
  • Added the game to the list manually, edited settings, and created a custom profile for the game with the following settings:
    • Anti-aliasing = Always Off
    • Anisotropic Filtering = Always Off
    • Vertical Sync = Always Off
    • Texture Filtering Mode = Performance
    • Game Sharpening = Off
      Then saved the settings.

Checked and updated all drivers using Driver Booster Pro and NVIDIA GeForce Experience. In GeForce Experience:

  • Capped global framerate at 30 FPS
  • Disabled image scaling
  • Enabled Battery Boost
  • Enabled experimental features
  • Enabled in-game overlay.

Checked for system updates and optional system updates via system settings. Fixed the system clock by adjusting the format to 12-hour time. Ran a troubleshooter for automatic maintenance in administrator mode.

Rebooted the system to ensure all changes were applied.

Verified the game files.

Although these optimizations noticeably improved the game’s performance and responsiveness, they did not resolve the bug causing constant night-strength shadows.
