Controller Issues

Xbox Controller Not Working on macOS

If your Xbox controller is not functioning correctly:

  1. Open Steam → Settings → Controller.
  2. Disable Steam Input.
  3. If the issue persists:
  • Open System Settings → Game Controllers on your Mac.
  • Verify the controller is listed as Xbox Wireless Controller.
  • If it has a different name, rename it to Xbox Wireless Controller.
  1. If the problem continues:
  • Remove all existing controller profiles.
  • Disconnect every connected controller.
  • Reconnect your Xbox controller.
  • Rename it to Xbox Wireless Controller if necessary.

Steam Input Causes Controller Problems

Sephiria does not use Steam Input. Enabling it may cause compatibility issues.

To disable it for the game:

  1. Right-click Sephiria in your Steam Library.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Open the Controller tab.
  4. Under Override for Sephiria, choose Disable Steam Input.
  5. Launch the game again.

DirectX Crash Fix

If Sephiria crashes on startup or during gameplay with a DirectX-related error, try the following workarounds.

Force DirectX 11

  1. Right-click Sephiria in your Steam Library.
  2. Select Properties → General.
  3. In Launch Options, add:
-force-d3d11

This forces the game to use DirectX 11 instead of DirectX 12.

Disable the DirectX 12 Folder

If the crash continues:

  1. Right-click Sephiria in Steam.
  2. Select Manage → Browse Local Files.
  3. Locate the D3D12 folder.
  4. Delete it or rename it (for example, D3D12_backup).
  5. Launch the game again.

Note:

  • Running Verify Integrity of Game Files in Steam may restore the D3D12 folder.
  • If that happens, repeat the steps above.
  • Removing this folder does not affect the game’s main content.
  • This workaround has also resolved similar Unity-related crashes for some players.

If the issue still persists, update your graphics drivers and Windows to the latest available version.
