By reading this guide, you will be able to get an idea on how to prepare and plan ahead for the incoming days.

Characters

Of course, the first thing we need to look at are the characters:

Ivan

Ivan is capable of firing an explosive round every 5th shot, which doubles the damage.

This is excellent because it ramps up his killing power by a huge margin when combined with backstabs.

He has the highest kill rate early game when behind enemy lines due to the Explosive + Backstab.

Has the safety of range late game while being able to fire from behind the wall.

Anna

Anna has the ability to regain a portion of her stamina when picking up food, it’s important for you to be picking up food with your men and leaving it behind for later so you can make it to wherever you have to be much faster.

Unlike Ivan, she has no explosive shot, which makes it very painful to take down Artillery or Dogs even when combined with backstab early game.

However, she has an exceptional skill to take care of ambush hordes due to her not needing to constantly be looking one side, so you are able to kite the horde to death with ease.

Since she wields a shotgun, she lacks heavily on range, making her a high risk to try and take down artillery or a giant when a big wave comes in, but out damages Ivan with Engineers on Bullet Factory.

Planning Process

Success heavily depends on how you handle your resources in Until We Die, so here are a couple of tips on how to plan during early game.

Day 1

3 Mutants come from the left side, so you should focus on getting the left wall up and harvest food from the right side while picking up the scrap left around the base.

You do not need to protect left side since 3 mutants will die while trying to break it, they lose health on each attack.

Do get the right wall up when you have picked everything close to the right side.

Getting up the workshops as fast as possible will be your goal from here.

Day 2

Once you have gotten the engineering workshop done, it’s in your best interest to get the technology research going as soon as possible.

From this point on, you need to gather as much resources possible from the left side using your units while keeping the population equal or lower than the limit.

Do not try to expand too fast, my best advice is to expand left side one wall at a day until you get used to the speed of which diggers clean up debris and mutant attacks while keeping an eye on your food to see if it will be enough.

If needed, make your units work at night while you protect them, you should not be scared of early night unless a dog appears. To avoid that, you shouldn’t push too far close to the last wall.

This is also the day where right side will spawn an overgrowth on Seasoned and Above, so clear the small eggs daily.

Day 3

Proceed as advised on Day 2, but an overgrowth will spawn to the closest side of your right walls, clean up the small eggs daily.

For Seasoned and Above, an overgrowth will spawn at the end of the right side, clean up the small eggs daily.

Day 4

An overgrowth will spawn at the end of the right side, clean the small eggs daily.

For Seasoned and Above, an overgrowth will spawn at the middle of the right side, clean up the small eggs daily.

Day 5

An overgrowth will spawn at the middle of the right side, clean the small eggs daily.

An artillery mutant will attack from the left side, clean as much small eggs as possible to make this as easy as possible for yourself.

Backstab the artillery when it comes to your wall or greet it in the wild so you don’t lose any walls.

For Seasoned and Above, Pickup all your diggers and destroy every single overgrowths on the right side. This allows the right side to be completely clear of enemies until day 10.

An artillery mutant will attack from the left side, clean as much small eggs as possible to make this as easy as possible for yourself.

Backstab the artillery when it comes to your wall or greet it in the wild so you don’t lose any walls.

Day 6

Pickup all your diggers and destroy every single overgrowths on the right side. This allows the right side to be completely clear of enemies until day 11-12.

If you have the time, push into the infested area and take some of the resources.

Day 7

Your first raid wave comes in today, you should upgrade at least 2 walls for safety and completely loot the left side for the required resources.

Shoot the small eggs to make it easier for yourself.

The raid will provide a lot of mutants with 4-6 bombs after them, so watch your back while backstabbing them as it could end up with you dead.

An artillery also comes in after more mutants come in, take care of it like you have on Day 5.

Day 8

Free day after the raid wave, no eggs will spawn to spawn enemies, but ambushes can still happen.

Use this time to gather resources from the left side if you haven’t.

Day 9

After everything is in order, it’s time for you to get the left side to 6 walls as fast as possible, if you think you’re not ready, you can wait till day 10.

Also start killing overgrowths on the left side as leaving them too long will bring pain later.

Day 10

It’s possible that you have gotten the technology to open doors, so go ahead and open the right door to get access to the ventilation shaft to allow stalkers to expedition, you should also start clearing and expanding right side from here on out.

For Seasoned and Above, today your right side gets merged with the rest of it, the eggs on the right side ahead of the bridge don’t seem to make small eggs for this day, but be careful nonetheless. A lot of loot awaits on the right infested area and you will get a Stalker and a Commoner if you pass by the bridge, keep the overgrowths under control to keep breathing room for your men and push accordingly from here on out.

Try to get the last wall of each side to the max level, plug the open holes on each side, and keep the farms steady until you win.

Day 12

Today your right side gets merged with the rest of it, the eggs on the right side ahead of the bridge don’t seem to make small eggs for this day, but be careful nonetheless.

Conclusion

It’s all about how you handle the early game in Until We Die to see if you win or not, if you stay on top of the overgrowths and use the resources given to you by the level, you should have no problem taking care of it.
