Basic Info

In this guide, I’m going to tell you on how to use the Custom BGM function in the game.

A few things to note:

  • The music files has to be in the .mp3 format.
  • It doesn’t change the music used for the guest pilots (that requires some modding to the game files).

Before that, a word of warning: Because it is possible to use licensed music and songs through the Custom BGM function, you will likely to run a risk of having your gameplay video(s) taken down by the video streaming service if you use licensed tracks through the Custom BGM function in the gameplay video(s). If you want to use the licensed tracks in the gameplay video, do it at your own risk.

Preparing The Music Files

As aforementioned, the music files has to be in the .mp3 format. The game will load the music files if the files were encoded in the correct settings.

The correct settings for the .mp3 files that can be use in the game are:

  • Sampling frequencies has to be either 32000Hz, 44100Hz or 48000Hz.
  • The usable bitrates are 32kbps, 40kbps, 48kbps, 56kbps, 64kbps, 80kbps, 96kbps, 112kbps, 128kbps, 160kbps, 192kbps, 224kbps, 256kbps and 320kbps. It is recommend to have the .mp3 files encoded using Constant Bitrate (CBR) instead of Variable Bitrate (VBR).
  • Once you prepared the music files you want to use, create a folder in any place inside your PC and place the music files into the folder.

Important note: If you have created the sub-folder(s) inside the folder you created and place the music files into them, the game will automatically separate those music files into ‘Albums’, usually named after the sub-folder(s) they were placed into.

Loading The Files in The Game

The next step is to make the game load the music files:

  • Enter the ‘BGM Settings’ menu from either the Home Menu or from the System Command while playing a stage.
  • Go to ‘Edited BGM’, and click on ‘Select destination folder to load files’.
  • A Windows Explorer prompt will then pop up. Select the folder you created earlier.

And congrats! Now your music files can be used in the game.

Important note: If you added any new music files into the folder, the game will not load them immediately. You will have to re-select the folder in the game every time you adds the music files. Also, if you want to remove one or more music files from the game, select ‘Remove destination to load files’ and re-select the folder to reload the intact music files.
