Final Thoughts
Please be aware that these files might get downloaded again if there’s a patch or update to the game. You can easily revert back to the original state by reinstalling the game or using ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’.
My idea worked, at least as far as reducing all 6 videos down to 1 second each so they pass quickly. Only time will tell if an update reverts them but I don’t think it will. If anyone wants a zip where you can easily copy and replace your own files with the ones I made, I think it’d be less than a megabyte, I could upload it somewhere.
There is a BlackScreen.webm you could use but it’s 3s long. Also, there may be a possibility the integrity checks for file size, so that method may not work. Only time will tell. Another method is to write a simple DOS script that deletes the files. I could write something really quick, but I feel that’s unnecessary.
I actually reduced them further, to a half-second each so they go super-fast.. and even if an update replaces them, I made a zip for myself that unzips and replaces the files in the proper places automatically with my super-short ones, just by dragging the contents into the Videos folder. Total size, 26kb.
I bet you could also replace all of them with a 1 second blank webm file, and they’d never get re-downloaded as long as you don’t verify file integrity via the Properties menu.
I might test this and get back to you.
Thank you so very much for this. In previous games like Odyssey, one could just button mash to skip the videos quickly but not on this one so this guide is of great help. Thanks again.
