Blueprint Tycoon – Guide for The Final Mission to Produce Robots

Guide for the final mission to produce robots. Note I do not want to spoil the challenge entirely, so this guide is NOT a hand-holding exercise and my screenshots are just examples.

Useful Tips

  • Keep distinct areas separate. Food & houses / lab & vials / material & production lines.
  • Remember there is no speed requirement, so you can feel free to stay as you are and stock up on 50 or 100 of each item before you start progressing through further missions. I found this helped a lot especially with microchips which are needed in high numbers for various items.
  • As a rule try to gather all objects into ports, and then have workers distribute them out to the required manufacturing rooms (except for food chains).
  • Do NOT rush expanding or you WILL overbalance. Occasionally take time to stop and observe things for a while.
  • Equally take some time to watch flows and make sure you are still profitable after any big changes or building new chains, and before any saves. Or if any shortages develop, re-balance your supply chains.
  • I do not want to spoil the challenge entirely, so this guide is NOT a hand-holding exercise ;P and my screenshots are just examples.

Guide

Startup:

  • Basic rules apply. Food supply for veg and meat. Houses for blue and purple guys. These will eventually take up most of the top / top-right half of the island (red and yellow will be middle / top-left).
  • Follow the initial missions, harvests and productions. They are fairly simple. If you made it this far, the basics will be no bother.

For early growth:

  • Upgrade vegetables and houses whenever needed rather than building more.
  • For all routes do not upgrade the routes themselves, just add more workers to them as needed, and they can be removed later if required (unless the harvesting is very fast like vegetables).
  • Do not upgrade buildings all willy-nilly (unless they are supplying something in high-demand too slowly, meat or tools may be a good example of this).
  • In late-game it becomes much more important to upgrade buildings and workers, both to increase production and also because the costs of building more gets quite high in workers & building materials.

For income:

  • When possible go for the base harvests like wood / rock / cow, just put the harvesters right next to delivery.
  • Mid-game move onto plank / iron ingot if you are not earning enough.
  • In later game, switch to a couple of microchips / power tools supplied from the port via an airship. But move away from them towards the end when coming up to producing robots as they will be crucially needed. There is no need to upgrade delivery at all, at least until you are forced to by a mission.

For lab and research:

  • Try to keep all this separate, I put mine in the bottom left corner. Produce all vials and research on the starting location island 1, except for the blue vials which you should make on island 2 and ship over (see further below). Hurry through all new researches as fast as possible each time you level up your base. Feed the lab vials from the port, not directly.
  • When they come up, add purple / brown vial production chains and microscopes on island 1, taking the materials required from the port and feeding back into to the port. Supply the lab direct from the port as before, but this time with like 6 workers on the route. Rush through the research quickly, throwing down new purple houses as needed.
  • When research is completed sleep all the vials and lab and microscope until next level is needed.

When moving onto iron and tools:

  • Buy island 2, the closest one just to the west. There harvest 1x cows, 2x iron ore, 2x coal. Produce 1x leather, 2x iron ingots, and 2x tools. Also harvest the materials for the blue vials and produce them here. Ship all the produces and blue vials to island 1 with a tier 1 boat.
  • Have a second marketplace ready and stocked up for yellow and red guys on island 1, with its own separate veg / meat / meal supply.

When researched copper / sand / microchips etc:

  • Buy island 3, the small one in the far, far west. Harvest 1x sand, 1x copper, 1x iron, 2x coal. Build and supply 2x iron ore, 2x microchips, 2x mechanical parts. Deal with waste locally with 2 disposers to the back of the island away from the port (you may need to upgrade one later). Balance the flow of production by increasing the number of workers for each route as needed.
  • Send these products back to the main island 1 on an upgraded tier 2 or 3 ship and use them on main island 1 to produce power tools and building modules for construction, and stock up even more of all these things for later

When you reach the red workers:

  • Island 2 update – Harvest 1x wheat, feed this into 2x flours, and then feed these both back into 1x cake, and send the cakes to the port. Add the cakes to the boat going over to island 1. Here combine them with the meals (you may need to upgrade pieces of the meal chain if supplies get low), and send the fancy meals to the second marketplace along with the normal meals. You can wait until you have loads in stock before you actually build the red guy houses if you want. Also maybe upgrade the iron ingots / tools and their supply routes.
  • Island 3 update – Harvest 1x oil on the green patch on island 3. Add that to the boat’s roster and ship it raw to island 1.
  • Make fast progress on the final layers of research, using the advice above on vials.
  • You should have plenty of objects saved up by now too

Robots, yay!:

  • Prepare for robot production beforehand with a dedicated storage warehouse in the bottom right, south of the delivery storage. Start amassing microchips, mechanical parts and oil there, using a tier 1 airship to transport them from the port.
  • Place 1x plastic factory next to it taking from the warehouse and feeding straight back into warehouse. Do not rush and when finally able, start producing robots. (Again, you can start stockpiling these before you reach the actual mission to deliver them.)
  • Be ready for a lot of imminent waste material down here with 2 dedicated waste managements…
  • Note the robot factory needs 50 of each construction material so save up!! Place your 1x robot factory by the warehouse, supplied with all parts by multiple workers.
  • Wait again, after you saved up enough materials, upgrade the plastic factory to tier 2, and then again to tier 3 as you may start to run out soon.
  • If you are running short on mechanical parts then right next to your robot factory set up a whole new supply route of coal, iron ore, iron ingots and copper also.
  • After another while you can upgrade the robot factory too if you wish

Endgame:

  • By the time I reached the ‘Complete The Robot Contract’ mission I had…
    Housing at 15x blue tier 3, 5x purple tier 2, 6x yellow tier 3, 3x red tier 2.
Sales at 8 chips, 7 iron bars, 7 cows, 2 robots.
    About 20 robots in storage.
  • You need to deliver 99, oof! Accept the contract, go into fast speed, start carrying them to delivery and dispatching them just 2 or 3 at a time. They are slow to produce, so do not sacrifice profit at this late stage.
  • Wait until you have succeeded this extremely tricky and unique management game.
