Cat Goes Fishing – Basic Guide

I’ve played and owned this game for about a month now, and I’ve noticed the wiki doesn’t always help a lot, so I’m sharing some tips that help clarify what the wiki doesn’t.

Cave Shark Tips

Сrеdit gоеs to DBKGamesYT !

A lot of people say that the cave shark is the most annoying fish to catch, personally, I disagree. First you need to unlock and equip sinker and scouting on your rod, so that you can pick up a rock, I also recommend flick, in case you get stuck.

Now you just head into the caves and a bombat should be on your hook in seconds. To actually catch the cave shark, make sure you have a huge hook equipped and also a light bulb, so you can see. Now just move your line to the left and the cave shark should bite and bam, you’ve caught it.

My Personal Worst Enemy: The Mask Fish

The mask fish has and is to this day, the hardest fish I’ve ever successfully caught. For it to even spawn, disable sonar AND press shift to hide your UI.

You will need large bait and a mega hook. For me, the hardest part was just FINDING the tims. However, I’ve found the best spot, it requires a sinker, master rod, and either the explorer’s hat or a LOT of licking down.

At this point you have already equipped bait-guard and have bombed a few fish to get down to the tims.

Note: The mask fish will NOT spawn if you use a light bulb. The best spot is located in the same area as the sodafish, simply find the sodafish on sonar, and make sure you also see lamplids, that’s where you should fish. I also recommend turning your brightness to the max, so you can see the glint in the mask fish’s eye, and its teeth.

Magnalav: How to Spare Yourself from The Pain

The Magnalav is famous for taking 7-10 minutes to get to shore, and by then you have a finger cramp. I’ve found if you can get the Magnalav to spawn once, and manage to scare it off WITHOUT it getting stuck, there’s a chance you can get it to come all the way to the spawn cliff FOR YOU, however the AFK time is sometimes doubled. I’m still not sure if finding it and scaring it away is a requirement, but it has increased the chances for me.

Yes, I have NOT caught this fish before, this is because of the brimble, and when i was finally going to catch it, a ray spawned in off-screen WAY above it’s spawn height, and took my bait, scaring it into the rocks, AGAIN. However, that was just bad luck for me, and this strategy will work for you.

bomb, wait near shore not at shore, mega hook with large baity (doesn’t run away if pacing), boom.
You don’t need to wait a dragon
