This guide highlights some of the ways (especially less obvious ones) of how your actions influence things like nation relations, reputation, fame, authority etc.
Personal Stats and Actions Influence
Introduction and Disclaimers
This guide provides a cheat-sheet that lists how your actions and random events influence your personal stats, such as reputation, fame, authority etc. as well as some of the personal skills.
This table is in no way comprehensive, but it focuses more on the less obvious ways your stats can be influenced and thus can still be useful.
This table was originally compiled for the older version of the game, Sea Dogs: To Each His Own, and things might have been changed around, added and removed in Caribbean Legend.
I don’t follow some of the observations made by the OP and/or have no idea what they were talking about. Those will be marked with (?)

Again, the guide is almost certainly not comprehensive and some changes in these dependencies might have been made for CL.
Fast and Cheap Ways to Increase Reputation with Nations
- Doing quests for the governors.
- Doing freight missions from harbourmasters.
- Finding stolen ships for harbourmasters.
- Delivering letters for wandering monks.
- Donating to wandering monks (random event).
- Donating money to nobles (random event).
- Getting stranded sailors back to civilization (I’d assume only those who ask to be delivered to the port of a certain nation).
