Low/Mid Spender Demon Hunter Guide
This build I have put together with a mix of help, but also some of my own testing. I find this to be very stable, both for OWF (open world farming), dungeons and raids.
Note: I rarely to never do any PVP, so I am not able to say how this would do against other players.
Skills:
This is a 100 % primary attack-based build, 3 of the skills is there to boost the damage you do with your primary attacks, and the last is there for both mobility and boost to attacks speed, which in turn also increases the damage you dish out.
Legendary Essences:
- Head: False Manifesto
After using Knockback Shot, your primary attack speed is increased by 30 % for 6.4 seconds.
- Chest: Duplicitous Prophetics
Wind Shear: Knockback Shot now causes your primary attack to also fire a blast of wind that knocks enemies away. Knockback Shot damage is increased by 18 %..
- Shoulders: Chillwrath Mantle
Icy Path: Daring Swing now fires ice arrows at the ground, forming an icy path that continually damages and chills. Daring Swing damage increased by 18 %.
- Legs: Scornbeak
Daring Swing now also increases your primary attack speed by 30 % for 6.4 seconds.
- 1st Primary: The Excavator
Shadow Blades: Impale now causes your primary attack to also hurl penetrating knives that deal damage to all enemies they pass through, Impale damage increased by 18 %.
- 2nd Primary: War Generosity
Every 4 attacks with Explosive Arrow generates an explosion that knocks the enemy away. Players cannot be knocked away more than 1 time every 3 seconds. Explosive Arrow damage increased by 9 %.
- 1st Offhand: Hellbinder
Explosive Arrow now also causes enemies to burn for 3552 damage over 2 seconds. Damage increased by 90 %.
- 2nd Offhand: The Thud
Impale damage increased by 28.5 % to enemies with an active harmful effect.
Set Items:
Where all the legendary pieces are pretty much set in stone, you do have options when it comes to the set pieces and bonuses you are after. I will not go into detail of what you can swap out, but only post what I have found to be the best combination.
War rags of Shal’Baas 4 piece bonus
- Primary attack damage increased by 15 %
- Your primary attacks gradually increase your primary attack speed, up to a maximum of 25 %
Vithu’s Urges 2 piece bonus
- Increases the duration of all beneficial effects on you or your party members by 30 %
Legendary Gems:
Here there is a very large pool of gems that can be good to use, and depending on your level of play and pay, this will differ a lot from person to person. There are lots of guides on YouTube that give a legendary gem tier list, but I will list here what I am using.
Previously I had both Bottled Hope and Blood-Soaked Jade in my build, and I could also very much see the new Starfire Shard be a part of this, but the level of money I put into the game is just not enough to level more than 1 of the 5/5 star gems, and for that reason I have come to this setup.
- Gloom Cask
- Power & Command
- Pain Clasp
- Fervent Fang
- Mother’s Lament
- Bloody Reach
- Ca’arsens Invigoration
- Berserker’s Eye
If at any point I max out my Gloom Cask, I will look to put in a Blood-Soaked Jade, this will replace Berserker’s Eye.
All gems have different effects that ‘activate’ at different levels, but what I have done is to level all to 5 first, then focus on the 1 star gems to max those for the option to Awaken the legendary item the level 10 gem is put in.
These gems can be removed and put into new gear slots, which allows us to Awaken the item we prefer.
I have chosen to Awaken my Chest piece, for 10 % damage on Knockback Shot, and 1st Offhand (Hellbinder) for 10 % damage on Explosive Shot. My next slot will be the head piece for a 10 % cooldown reduction on Knockback Shot.
As for normal gems there is again different options, but this is what I have used:
- Red slots: Tourmaline
- Blue slots: Sapphire
- Yellow slots: Citrine
As you level your legendary gear, you get the option to reforge for different beneficial attributes, here I have recently reforged everything into Attack speed and increased duration of beneficial effects.
Hopefully this guide helped you!
