Weapons

Trebbies

Are a team weapon. They work better together. Of course at one point during the game we will all have, one, however to feel their full effect more than one is needed. With multiple trebbies the lack of loading/shooting speed is largely unnoticed. The area of ground each trebbie can effect is more effective when the human targets his/her trebbies. Pro Tip!

Cats

Are a fantastic early game weapon. In the latter stages I think their best and most efficient role is as ‘wall cleaner’. (Wall Cleaner… a weapon that can cheaply remove multiple ‘stationary’ enemy units extremely effectively.) I’ve tried to use them in multiple roles, in multiple scenarios however they seem to me to be perfectly designed to clear the rabble attacking walls. Once the enemy are fairly stationary the cats can really shine by clearing out 6 or 8 enemy with each shot.

Ballista

The “Sniper”

Best used when hooman manually targets. One shot, one kill. Best anti siege weapon in game. Against individual soldiers not as effective as splash weapons.

If used to their strengths and their weaknesses minimized they work quite well as a team.

Is it better to stack walls with crossbowmen?

I value each soldier and citizen. They are not throw away. So I never put any soldier on any wall. Walls fall. Walls are weak. I leave a space behind my outer most walls so that builders can repair them, whilst fighting is happening. The row behind the repair open space is where I build towers etc.

Prioritize Siege Weapons

They are best used when all units are used together. (Except for soldiers, axemen, horsemen, hammerguy, spearman, swordsmen. horse archers or mounted knights. I’m playing defense. It is a siege game. The enemy will always attack me. My army can’t stab through walls! Those 8 units are useless. They look cool however they are all each and everyone a waste of resources) 6 units are all anybody needs. Archers, crossbowmen, trebbies, ballista, cats and healers. Range weapons and only range weapons are the key.

Eliminate the enemy before he can touch you.

Walls are not meant to be permanent. Four of your weapons (cats, trebbies, crossbowmen and archers perform best when the enemy is not moving. I.E. against a wall. Those weapons ranges should match where the enemy will be stationary.) Pause the game and target the enemy you want your ballista and trebbie to hit. Always target the enemy range weapons first. This is why you allow your builders to have contact with the outer walls so that during combat your walls will stay up much longer and provide even more time for your ‘wall cleaners’ to do their best work.
