A basic guide on strategies and tips for your first win.

I play on Easy, these strategies might not work nearly as well on higher difficulties, and there are probably better strategies out there.

So, this guide is a simple collection of tips/strategies for beating the final boss and making it through the core. This is NOT aimed at players who want to win “better”, but instead aimed at players like me, people who struggle to win even on the easy difficulty, who just want to get their first win under their belt.

I need help with the final fight!

The final fight takes place in a giant room, with 4 spawners and the crystal bot in the centre.

The First Tip is:

• Lose a few times.

The LAST debuff that gets removed from the core is “Crystal Crippler”, which halves your attack, and lowers your Def/Spd by 20%! Since the crystal bot will always be in the final fight’s boss room, this debuff will always be active throughout the fight. Obviously, this is very bad. If you lose on the core thrice, you’ll remove that debuff permanently!

In fact, if you’re reading this guide, you might already have this step done.

Second Tip:

• Build some turrets!

Ideally ones with long range, or suited towards the spawner they are closest too. Didn’t research anything good? No worries! Even a couple Straight Shooters is better than having nothing at all! Genuinely have no industry because you barely even made it to this point? That’s okay, just…

Third Tip:

• Never stop kiting!

The final boss will endlessly chase you or one of your poor NPC teammates. If you’re solo, you’ll be very sad to see the NPCs constantly going down because they can’t dodge the very obviously telegraphed melee attack. DON’T PANIC! They take 90 seconds (!!!) to bleed out proper, which is plenty of time to revive them in between a melee!

Unfortunately if you are struggling, this third tip may not be much help, because the spawn-waves (either between his 1st & 2nd phase, or between his 2nd & 3rd phase, or during his 3rd phase) might destroy your crystal if you’re only shooting the boss and have no turrets.

What to do if that happens? Focus on clearing enemies targeting the crystal, and reviving your teammates! They can shoot the boss as they constantly get downed, and you just try not to let the run fail.

I can’t even make it to the final fight…

This is not as bad as it sounds, genuinely! I died here once or twice before my first win! My brain-dead strategy is this:

Build turrets to hold off waves ON THEIR OWN. This is a massive help that really can’t be understated. Freeing up your heroes means more boss damage as you all kite him around a room without turrets (so him darkening the room won’t hurt your defence)! Not sure where to kite him? The rooms he spawn in are pretty good for this, as they never have turret slots, so you can just shoot him while your other 2 teammates are guaranteed to focus him too!

What if my turrets can’t hold off the waves? Well, certainly not ideal, but still doable! Teleport your team to the crystal bot and hold off there! Again, this room has no turret slots, so him darkening the room won’t cripple your defence, AND you can defend the crystal as you fight him!

What if while doing this, I die anyway cause the hordes smashed my crystal? Well…crumbs, there really isn’t much I can advise anymore…your best bet is just trying again, researching enough strong turrets and ensuring your heroes have decent weapons for boss damage, or if things go south at your crystal, weapons for killing enemies!

Other issues you may have:

• Q: I can’t even make it to the core!
• A: Try not to spend too long on the third district, it’s quite dangerous, and the floors there can be massive (meaning many many spawners, meaning HUGE waves).

• Q: This guide assumes I have resources to spare/my run is in good shape by the time I reach the final boss!
• A: In my case I had a grand total of TWO turrets in the final boss room, and spent almost the entire fight running in circles rezzing my NPC allies. Trust me, you can win even if you are out of resources/medkits/anything by the time you face the final boss!

• Q: I’m actually not having trouble with the final boss himself, I’m mostly struggling with waves either in the core or while getting to the core…
• A: Turrets, lots and lots of them.

• Q: I don’t have industry for turrets!
• A: If you run out of industry before you even get to the core, your run is almost definitely dead…if this happens to you often, focus more on heroes! Many of them have powerful abilities, and with some levels pumped into them, they really shred the hordes!

• Q: I don’t have industry for turrets OR food for levelling heroes!
• A: Damn, that’s rough. Well if all you have is science, research stronger turrets, or a wider variety of turrets to support your team.

• Q: I don’t have industry for turrets OR food for levelling heroes OR science to do research!
• A: Umm…you are playing on easy right? Maybe drop it down to friendly? Where are your resources going? Honestly not sure how you got into this situation
