Just started up the game? What do you do first? Do you pull for the banners immediately? Or do you spend all the free stuff you get from starting the game? I’ll help you out a bit as someone who survived many Gacha games as F2P, as i found this game to be very…… Generous.
How to Start
Starting the Game!
Ok, you started the game, and finished the Tutorial. What to do next?
Reminder that this guide isn’t for how do you play the game, but rather about how you manage your resources as someone who might not want to spend much $$$ on the game.
Well, you start claiming all the free starting rewards right?
You’ll get 480 Hero Tickets, 2500 Hero Crystals, 1 Character Ticket and a few other stuff not really worth mentioning. What we care about is the Tickets and the Crystals.
If you’re planning to go long-term with this game, go to the menu, click on “Login Bonus” and activate that “7-Day Premium Login Bonus” with 100 Hero Crystals. Don’t worry, it’s worth it in the long run i promise. It gives you 10 Hero tickets per day, so save them up for your Gacha Pulls, it’s pretty cheap too!
If you’re reading this guide then you’ll see that there’s an Ochako/Tsuyu event currently running. Clear some of the missions until you get 1720 Event Points. You can exchange them for 6000 Hero Crystals! If any future events have Crystals up for exchanges, get them first. You’ll need it.
In total, you should have 8400 Hero Crystals, considering if you bought the “7-Day Premium Login Bonus”
Do not spend the hero crystals on pulling gacha banners or buying hero tickets on the shop!
I repeat, do not spend the crystals on it!
Gacha Rolls/Pulls
Now, let’s talk about the Gacha aspect in this game.
- A single pull costs 10 Hero Tickets/1200 Hero Crystals,
- and a 10-pull cost 100 Hero Tickets/12,000 Hero Crystals.
- Doing a 10-pull guarantees you atleast a 2* item or above, this is why doing 10-pulls is infinitely better than doing singles. You are masochistic if you do this, no offense.
If you want to unlock characters over time, you need to do a bunch of pulls, since you need Hero Souls. You get Hero Souls by getting dupe items, which atm (1st of October, 2023 is really easy to get because of the currently small roster in the game.
- 1* dupe gets you 1 Soul
- 2* dupe gets you 10 Souls
- and a 3* dupe gets you 100 Souls
Note that getting a dupe of a 3* outfit gives you an equippable aura instead of Hero Souls.
If you want to start unlocking characters, you’ll need 300 Hero Souls. Which you can get over time if you play the game a lot anyway.
There is a one-time purchase tickets for 100 and 200 Souls respectively, but this is considering if you already got both of them in the long run.
But back to the main topic, we’re talking about Hero Tickets and the gacha.
Based on the current banner (Disguise Trio: League of Villains), to do a Spark/Exchange, you need at least 200 mileage Pts. What is a mileage point? It’s a temporary currency you can use to exchange for one of the banner’s rewards, but is discarded by the time a new banner arrives.
A single pull gives you 1 point, so you’ll need 20 10-pulls to do one exchange. Basically needing 2000 Hero Tickets.
How to get more Hero Tickets easily though?
Here comes that 7-day Premium Login Bonus i told you about earlier comes to play.
You get 10 Hero Tickets per day if you just Log In, it adds up in the long run. Do it for 4 weeks? That’s 280 tickets, 20 off from a 3 10-pull.
You can also get even more from the Battle Pass, 40 tickets from the free one, and for 4800 Crystals, you can get 110 tickets from the Pro License by the time you reached Lv. 50 for a total of 150 tickets.
- You can also get more from the Daily, Weekly and Seasonal missions. It all adds up everyday.
- Not to mention events could probably get you more in the long run.
- This is why i said to not use the crystals for gacha, you get the tickets pretty often anyway.
- Adding up to the tickets you have when you first made your account, you can get more than 1000 tickets within the first month of playing!
Oh, also you get 4,5k of the 4,8k crystals back if you finished the battle pass! which basically means you only spend 300 crystals for that pro license!
Is the Battle Pass Worth It?
I briefly mentioned the Battle Pass in the last section, but let’s explore it fully in this one.
What we care about is the general cosmetics, tickets and crystals. Because who cares about the gallery unlock items anyway?
There’s 2 Licenses available for you to do, and they both progress at the same time just by playing.
- A Seasonal 60-day Battle Pass, and a Special New Player Progression Pass.
- The Battle Pass is your general “buy and unlock rewards over time” kind of pass we have in the f2p scene.
- The New Player Progression Pass is basically how they want you to spend a bit more time on the game to unlock free stuff.
Unlike most f2p games though, you progress through the pass just by playing and getting good. Not by doing stupid missions that wants you to do something out of your comfort zone and end up playing bad because of it (Looking at you, PUBG and Fortnite).
What i want to talk about in this section is the Paid Season Pass one, though.
The Free Pass + Pro License (4,800 Crystals) gets you:
- 300 + 4,500 Hero Crystals (A full refund!)
- 40 + 110 Roll Tickets (1 and a half 10-pulls)
I only talk about the currencies you get above, but for the Pro License you also get a few costumes, emotes and quotes.
I’d say it’s worth it. If you have the time.
Tip: Don’t immediately buy the pass if you don’t think you can get it to Lv. 50, you get the 300 Crystals on the free pass on Lv. 40, Buy the pass when you reach Lv. 50 so you don’t lose crystals.
But now that we got the Battle Pass out of the way, let’s talk about the topic i have been avoiding the most. THE GRIND.
Well, like i said. These passes progress steadily over time as long you keep playing. So what’s wrong about it? Well, it still takes a long time and the progress depends on how well you do every match. (oh no.)
But here’s my tip for you, keep grinding your pass on Vs CPU (Hard). You can still get progress for both of your passes in the Vs CPU mode, it might get repetitive, but that’s why you have to gather your friends for the occasion! (Well, I’m really sorry if you don’t have any friends to play with. Me too, tbh.)
Also there’s the Agency! It’s basically the clan/guild feature of the game, but it’s members can contribute their Agency points to upgrade the stuff, most chose to upgrade the Gym for that Battle Pass EXP gains, go join some of the open Lv 3 or 4 agencies! Playing with a fellow Agency members also increases it even further from what i’ve heard.
How Do You Get More Characters?
Starting off, you only have 6 available characters
- Midoriya
- Ochako
- Cementoss
- Mt. Lady
- Shigaraki
- Dabi
Then there’s the Progression Pass characters (In order of unlock)
- Bakugo
- Todoroki
- Tsuyu
- Mr. Compress
- Toga
- All-Might
We don’t need to talk about these guys, since you’ll get them anyway.
The rest of them are separated between 2 categories. Ticket Characters, and Roll Characters.
Ticket Characters are the characters you unlock by spending 300 Hero Souls/A Character Ticket (hence the name). And Roll Characters are the characters that are currently only available in the gacha, and is either bought with 200 mileage or pure luck.
As of writing (October 1st, 2023) the Ticket Characters consist of
- Iida
- Tendo
- Denki
And the Roll Characters consist of
- Ibara
- Momo
- Kirishima
But don’t worry, as the official account mentioned, These Roll characters will soon roll into the Ticket character pool (see what i did there?) by the end of their banners or the season. Or will they rotate? Idk, we’re only 3 days in to the game by the time i write this guide.
Also you can try out a character using the Hero Trial card, which you get once every 6 hours with 3 as the maximum number in possession (It’s easier to say try a locked hero 3 times a day, but for clarity’s sake and the people who screamed “you spread misinformation”, i had to do it.) so you can actually use all the characters while looking for a main.
EXP is same gain on CPU easy/normal/hard
so the gold and the red blue and green things can i use them? or are they going to have a use in the future?
Gold is used to buy banners and some costumes from the shop, the red blue and green things are for unlocking images in the gallery for your loading screen. Pretty pointless, but neat stuff.
what should i use the hero crystals for?
You can use the hero crystals to buy the Battle Pass if you got it to Lv. 50 to just claim all the rewards and then get all 4,8k of those back immediately. You also can use it to buy the premium login bonuses. ATM, using them to roll in the gacha is too expensive since they cost 12k meanwhile the tickets are pretty common rn.
Do you think if it’s worth using gems to upgrade the Progression Pass? I’m a bit impatient and really want to unlock Todoroki fast but it’s really slow, and on the other hand this is not my first gacha game so I know how wasting gems can be devastating if you’re f2p. So what is your opinion?
Joining an Agency should help with all the Passes, granted there’s no high level agencies that focuses on EXP gain at the moment. But it’s still a better thing to do than spending the crystals imo. I’m 40 matches in and I’m still halfway to lv 3. It truly is long ngl.
One Level Up is 1,5k crystals. Getting Todoroki from Lv. 0 is 4.5k. It’s a fixed number too, no matter how close you are to the next level. (You get 30k exp per 1.5k crystals, so might be worth it if you want to unlock 2 levels in one go. For example, you just need around 1k left for the level up, you can just buy 1 level, play one match and get the remaining 1k)
But I’ll still say it’s not that worth it. I just grind the CPU matches yesterday to unlock Bakugo for that consistent EXP gain. Because the EXP gain is based on your performance and match time no matter what mode you’re playing.
I see, after some thought I decided to not lvl it up with crystals, I will just lvl it up normally and save up gems for the next season. Also are coins only used for cosmetics? I have 19k of them but it seems like the only thing they’re used for is purchasing cosmetics
Yeah, coins are mostly generally useless and you get a lot of them anyway by just doing the missions.
