Explanation of the Production of Items

There are four requirements you need to meet in order to craft an item.

1) You need to know the recipe

Some recipes are granted by learning the schematics for new crafting stations, some are purchased from essence traders, and some are learned when completing events in the realms. You can see if a recipe is known by searching for it in your crafting menu: press C. If the recipe does not appear in your crafting list then you will need to find or buy it.

2) You need to have the correct station.

It’s not enough to just have a station of the correct type; many recipes will require advanced stations. You can craft filigree at a blacksmith’s hearth, but not at a smelter or brazier. Viewing the recipe in the Crafting menu will allow you to see what stations can be used to craft it.

3) You need to have the correct augment, if one is required.

Many items cannot be crafted unless you have the appropriate augment crafted and placed near your crafting station. There will usually be several different augments to choose from; currently, it doesn’t matter which one you choose as long as you have any of them in play. Again, the Crafting recipe for the item will show what augments will support your desired crafting.

4) The augment needs to be registered with the station.

You will need to place the augment within a few yards of the crafting station, and within line of sight, in order for it to register. While moving the augment or the station, you will see green arrows connecting the augment to the station if it is positioned correctly.

In addition, each crafting station can register only a limited number of augments at a time, indicated by the checkmarks or plus signs in the station HUD. If all augment slots are full, you will need to move some of the augments away before it can register any new ones. This is the most common issue when an expected recipe is missing.

I don’t know the Charm of Blood recipe; I will need to buy or find it before I can make it.

This item can only be crafted at a specific station, not at others of the same family.

This item requires that any one of three augments be crafted and placed near the appropriate station.

This station can register only one more augment. When all slots are full, it cannot register any more; move unneeded augments elsewhere to make more room.
