Trying to Explain Pal Statuses
Just a casual here trying to share some things I’ve observed while playing Palworld, specifically the status ailments that the pals get at base.
Medicine
I wanted to quickly mention that you can buy/craft any and all medicine. Each medicine can cure specific types of ailments so make sure to get the correct one for what you need.
Minor Injuries / Major Injuries
So from what I can tell, minor injury/major injury comes from literally getting hurt. Beegarde gets this if your base is on aggressive or if you are raided and he goes and explodes itself. Same thing applies to any pal if you have the raids setting turned on, they can get injured from the raid. Note that injuries make your pals more prone to being upset if this is not resolved quickly.
Addressing Sanity
Sanity is easy. This one has a bar we can see so its easy to keep track and fix. Need higher sanity, feed higher sanity food, build more hotsprings, better beds, etc. Your first sign is when they get upset or taking too much breaks. This may also lead to depression if not addressed right away.
Hunger
Hunger is the root of all status problems. If they’re hungry, they get depressed, injured, etc. But solving hunger is a bit more complicated than just making sure they eat. However, solving this, will make even pathing issue a non-issue. (To some extent, if your layout sucks it sucks).
Nutrition
First thing to note is that there is a hidden value for nutrition. As far as i know, no one knows this value or a way to track it. It could be the same for every pal or different. The important thing to note is that this value needs to be high or relatively close to full.
Therefore, you want a food that’s high in nutrition. The higher the nutrition value is, the less the pal will have to eat again to get more nutrition. (Note that this is not the hunger bar of the pal). Its very common to have “overfull” as a status, but this also explains why your pal can have overfull and starving at the same time. Because the pal has eaten so much but the nutrition value was probably low so it kept eating to fill itself. (Baked berries diet basically).
Solution
So then how to solve hunger and the status problems it causes? More nutritious foods. Preferably one that also gives decent Sanity back per eat.
Salads
The most common suggestion here is Salad and they’re not wrong. Salad is quite literally the best food you can make without any effort(and it doesn’t take cake ingredients!). The alternative is Chikipy Sauté but you have to get the poultry manually.
However, do note that it does give increased work speed now and therefore Sanity drops faster too depending on the type of work the pal does. So you may have solved the hunger issue, but now you have a depression problem. You won’t notice this though unless you’re super hardcore with all your pals having the ultimate worker slave passives on all your pals which I’ll be mentioning next.
Passives
Keep an eye out for your worker pals with these passives:
- (Artisan, Serious, Lucky, Work Slave) all increase work speed. (Does not affect grazing speed).
- (Diet Lover, Dainty Eater) Hunger level drops slower. (They wont eat as often).
- (Workaholic, Positive Thinker) Sanity level drops slower. (Less likely to take a break).
- (Swift, Runner, Nimble) increased move speed. (If your feeder is far away from the workstation, this might matter to you).
I hope this information helps even one of you, happy gaming everyone!
