Palworld – The Best Combat Pals of Each Type

The Best Combat Pals

I spent the last few days researching Pal stats in order to assemble the best team that I can. Combined with in game experience and the power of math I think I have a good idea on what the best Pal is for every type.

Methodology: This is for version 0.1.3.0 and I will be including a few features of the version that will possibly be patched out in the future. I also found a lot of databases use two types of attack stats, Magic Attack and Melee Attack, the game seems to only use one but after looking at the list this did not affect a single entry. The two main factors that I will include in this methodology are stat product(Health Defense Attack) and the active abilities of the pal.

Glitches: In this version you can catch all of the tower bosses using a glitch, I will not be using them in this guide because they are clearly far more powerful than intended and the glitch will be removed in the future. What I will be including is the large health boosts that legendary pals get when you catch them but not breed them. I don’t know if this is intentional or not but it is something unavoidable when just getting them so it will be included.

So anyway on to the list starting with the easiest types.

Normal

Very easy, Paladius is by far the best normal type in combat. Even if it didn’t receive the massive boost from being a legendary it would still be so.

Ground

Anubis Also an easy answer. Warsect and Menasting are decent meat shields and can pack a punch, but they just cant hold up to the raw stats of Anubis.

Water

Jormuntide Easily the best and nothing even comes close to the base stats of this aquatic beast.

Ice

Frostallion Has some of the best stats in the game even before the legendary Hp increase. Closest competition is Cryolinx with a high attack and Mammorest Cryst with a higher Hp but none come close to the stat product of Frostallion.

Now on to the harder types that have either a lot of good Pals(Dragon, Dark, Fire) or no exceptional Pals (Grass, Electric) starting with

Dark

While there are a lot of dark types and Frostallion Noct has the highest base stats of the bunch, but Necrominus has the legendary Hp boost which lets it pull ahead. Shadowbeak is also in the running and has my favorite skill Divine Disaster and this answer would probably change if there was no legendary Hp boost.

Dragon

In a similar vein to Dark, while both Jormuntides have phenomenal stats, the best in the type. Jetragon takes the lead, but only because of the Hp boost.

Fire

A lot of good fire types in the game but I have to give the crown to Blazamut. Jormuntide Ignis has better bulk, the same melee attack, and a higher magic attack, but it has one crucial flaw holding it back, it can only be hatched from two Jormuntide Ignis parents, meaning that it can not get the most broken passive skills like Legend or Flame Emperor, Blazamut can which boosts it above the flaming serpent.

Electric

Not a lot of choice here with only two electric pals I would consider good in the late game but Orserk takes it over Grizzbolt for me because it has higher stats and a high DPS signature attack in Kerauno. However just feeding something like Frostallion Noct a bunch of electric fruits would create a better “electric” type pal.

Grass

The last type and by far the hardest to score with three big contenders Wumpo Botan has the best stat product, but Elizabee can easily outpace it with a team of Beeguards, but because of versatility Lyleen takes it for me. It has the best healing ability in the game and that makes it the most likely pal to end up on my team if I am doing any late game bosses.

TLDR

Best Pal in:

  • Normal = Paladius
  • Ground = Anubis
  • Water = Jormuntide
  • Ice = Frostallion
  • Dark = Necrominus
  • Dragon = Jetragon
  • Fire = Blazamut
  • Electric = Ordserk
  • Grass = Lyleen

  1. For me currently my team is:

Blazamut – Fire – Legend, Flame Emperor, Ferocious, Musclehead

Jormuntide – Water/Dragon – Legend, Lord of Water, Ferocious, Musclehead (Replace attacks with all water attacks)

Frostalion – Ice – Legend, Frozen Emperor, Ferocious, Musclehead

Orserk – Lightning – Legend, Lord of Lightning. Ferocious, Musclehead

Warsect – Legend, Spirit Emperor, Emperor of Earth, Legend, Ferocious (getting grass and earth on this was a pain in the backside).

I don’t run a dark because any Normal type enemies just seem to melt anyway. I don’t run a normal because nothing is really weak against it only it has a weakness to dark.

If I wanna run a dark though I swap out Frosty for Shadowbeak as dragons arent frequent.

Jetdrago might be awesome fast but having only Dragon type, that being weak against anything in the last area (Ice area) and the fact there’s so many fast travel points the need to travel fast isn’t all important anyway. I mean you can just slide glide for high speed but Frosty or Shadowbeak is well plenty fast enough.

Warsect is great though. Solar Beam on an earth type? Not only doing excessive damage to plant types with his earth skills but damage reduced from plant types simpoly because he is dual typed but added his defensive boost anyway makes him treat plant as worse than normal damage anyway.

  2. I don’t know if Flame Emperor is better than Ferocious, in theory both skills increase attack by 20%, but one only for fire movements and the other for all movements in general.
I write this because I don’t know if Blazamut does the same damage with both abilities or does more with Flame Emperor because it affects the final damage.
