How to Trade

Below will explain how to buy and sell thing from trade as a new player on PC. All item trading discussed will use the official trading website:

How to Buy

To buy from trade:

• Look up something you wana buy (on poe.sale).
• Hit the “Direct Whisper” button on that listing, this should paste a message directly into game to them.
  • There’s an option to copy the whisper as well if that doesn’t work (manually paste it in game chat).
  • If they’re around and wanting to trade, they will send a party invite.
• Accept the party invite.
• Go to their hideout with the currency in the trade message.
  • You can right click on their picture in the party ui and select go to hideout.
• Wait for them to send the trade request.
• Trade.
  • Double check the item they put up is the one you asked for, can get scammed if you’re not careful sometimes.
• Say thank you, leave both party and their hideout.

If someone doesnt send the party invite, go to someone else or try again later if its the only one (very rare, usualy there are tons of most things or similar enough gear to look at instead).

How to Sell

If you wish to sell the dank loot you found, the approach used will change depending on if you have a premium stash tab.

• Open the stash and right click on the tab marker along the top row of the stash.
• Check the Public bubble from this option.
  • For this explanation, we will be keeping the default behaviour of “Each Item Individually Priced” selected but you can experiment with this on your own time as they are fairly self explanatory.

• Place the item(s) you want to sell into this stash tab.
• Right click on the item itself.
• You can now set the price of the item to whatever you want. The drop down on the right can be used to change the currency you want to trade with (chaos orbs and divine orbs are the 2 most common choices).

• Your item is now listed on the trade site and people will be able to find it and message you for it if they are interested.
  • If someone messages you for an item but changes the price in the whisper message to something you didn’t ask for without discussing it with you, they are trying to scam you, block them and move on with your day.
• Once someone messages you for an item and you are available to trade with:
  • Invite them to party.
  • Go to your hideout.
  • Complete the trade.
  • Leave party or kick them from party.

Some of these steps can be streamlined with certain addons. I personally use PoE Trades companion to handle trade messages but Awakened PoE Trade can also be used to set chat hotkeys.
