It is quite possible to figure a ‘daily routine’ as well in the game in terms of sleeping. Waking up early morning, do stuff like fishing and navigation during the day and head back to bed around when the darkness has set in.
Sleeping Tips
- Don’t lock the wheel, just leave it as the game has a mechanic that’ll attempt to keep your boat going in a straight line.
- Careful about having too much sail out that might capsizing during your sleep.
- Do anchor within archipelagos if you don’t want your boat to ‘wash up’ anywhere, even with no sails!
- Hunger and thirst break up the sleep, use it to your advantage to keep checking on course, wind, etc. while you get through the night. Easy to get a full bar sleep for next day with little interruptions to check on things.
- Sleeping saves the game. Sleep little bits often if you want to avoid loosing a significant amount of play time.
Energy and Sleeping in Sailwind
The game has a day and night cycle. Nights are long. Luckily, you need to sleep. You use your hammock to sleep through the night and refill your green energy bar. Sleeping also skips time until the sun is up again.

The green bar starts full. It goes down as you play during the day. When it runs out, a red bar appears and flashes. Your view also gets a grainy effect. This is how you know your character is tired and needs sleep.
You can still play for a while when the red warning flashes. It just means your character is getting tired. If the green energy bar completely runs out, bad things can happen. It is best to find your hammock for some sleep before this happens.

The hammock is at the back of your ship (the stern). Left-click on it to use it and rest.
Important: Before sleeping, make sure your ship is safe. It keeps moving while you sleep! You should either:
- Pull in all the sails.
- Drop the anchor.
- Or, if you want to risk it, set the ship’s course and let it sail itself while you sleep.
When you sleep, you see the green bar refilling. Your character will briefly wake up sometimes. To stop sleeping early, right-click when your character wakes up. If you do not right-click, your character goes back to sleep until the green energy bar is full.
When you wake up, check your ship’s position to see how far you drifted. Note that your other survival bars (like hunger/thirst) will have also dropped overnight.
