Six Ages 2: Lights Going Out – Useful Tips and Tricks

Tips and Tricks

Сrеdit gоеs to !

Get the food shrines up as fast as possible, You want to get Dostal’s sureshot, Inilla’s Rootle, Uralda’s Milk and Calf blessing, THEN you decide if you want Voriof’s Shrine (gives a smaller herd boost than Uralda).

You also want to add food people onto your clan ring. Having a priestess of Ernalda on the ring if possible is very worthwhile, as you can invest 2 points into Fields magic which is where most of your food comes from.

Negotiate with spirits often (Doresa and her Daughter Dresta are both amazing to have on your ring) Berry, and Trout spirit are super important and essential especially they saved my butt so much in all my runs. ALSO FIND Earthworm spirit and Cheese they both help an insane amount (earthworm increases your food during earth season a ton, Cheese helps all year)

Reda and her daughter are great diplomats and their god redalda allow you to allocate an extra point in Pastures. Also you can ask other clans for food or cattle. Don’t be afraid to ask for a favor/ give out a favor if it means you dont let everyone starve to death.

if you get Hanth’s fighting hunger spirits event do everything you can to help him succeed, you get multiple spirits and a massive food bonus.

Pasture magic and wilds magic are both very helpful having extra points for it is great! and they help most of the year, especially wilds since hunting and foraging is always happening.

when your desperate the Foraging and hunting ventures are very good for food, Always if you can pick an Inilla worshipper for foraging and Dostal for hunting. they will give you the best results usually. Especially Inilla as she seems to prevent that one event where all the food rots away before the foragers get back.

Finally always always if possible trade for more herds, the more you have the better they are emergency food, they make food, and they grow on their own, The more you have the better. Trading goods or food(if you have an excess aka more than a year) trade for cattle. do be weary about not trading away to much if you don’t have the goods/food/whatever. But your really gonna want like 1200 herds atleast, as that number usually lasts me for a while and provides enough food. If you only have 600 cattle you can death spiral really bad from lack of food. 800 is ok but risky try to get it up as much as possible

Raiding is a good way to get cows/goods. If you can spare the troops make sure to raid someone who you know is weak. I suggest someone out of the berentheli tribe. But do what you must to survive.

Also getting Orlanthi allies is important, if your ally is orlanthi they allow you an additional temple which is vital since the more blessings you can get the better your chances of surviving are.

Chance Based/ Later On

Visit the wedding of Orlanth and Ernalda as soon as possible and when completed ask for fertile fields. When I did that food was way easier to come by, and was super helpful. As she frequently gave me food bonuses to the harvest.

Having a shrine or temple to Ernalda has a chance to proc her giving you a boost of magic towards your fields. This can be very helpful but its highly random, also Ernalda can help with some events surrounding food (such as the one where chaos taint rots your grain thats been stored call to her and if successful she’ll give you more food).

IF you get an event about Balurga sacrifice to her as much as you can spare she’ll give you an amazing fields blessing.

Weeders can provide dried fish, accept the deal the chance of gaining dried fish is really worthwhile.

Eurmal followers if on your ring can sometimes provide you food blessing by stealing it from other clans. This is extremely random but they can help a lot of times during your run and can give you additional magic which can help provide food.

Chaos Deals

if your willing to accept a bit of chaos (make sure you found the forosuvili lake as you can spend a point of magic to reduce your chaos taint but only a few times) there are some amazing deals that can help

BTW Eurmal followers make it possible other clans wont learn of your chaos dealings so if you do take chaos deals make sure you have a Eurmali on the clan ring.

Tyram’s ladder, where they ask you to build their ladder to the sky, provides a field boost, and Blesses all your Elmal and Osara worshippers, arguably one of the best chaos deals you can accept.

Ashen undead may show up, if they do and they ask to live with you and help you, have them tend to the fields/watch for enemies. if they tend the fields they can allow you to raid any time of year during any month which is useful since you can aquire more cows/goods or having them act as sentries can help prevent raids from sneaking up on you and showing you whats good.

there is one deal to accept 120 cows for betraying an ally, if your desperate it could be worth it. If you do just be weary about them breaking your alliance since it can cause a temple to go into disrepair if you dont have enough worshippers.

Olmpalm’s blessing is a risky one I haven’t taken. But if you fly his banner I hear he can give you a ton of goods and cows, that you can use for trade. But literally everyone will hate you in the valley so only take this if your sure you can go it alone.

Uldak gives like 30 cows for human sacrifice. Honestly an awful deal most times probably not a good idea unless Uralda is dead and your going to run out of cows(game over basically).

Spoilers stuff from the first game rltw that can help food production in lgo.

To the far east of the map in the foresty areas near Dog hills you have a chance to encounter Cenala, who has become a great spirit instead of being a god as she was in the first game, Accept her and promise to sacrifice to her. It is worth it as she provides a fields and wilds blessing if successful.

getting Aytuv or Yakatan (or both) can be a major bonus depending on how much you trained them last game. You can get them if you sent one to go with elmal when he visits, and the other by riding into the manifestation of Yelmalio fighting a troll at the Hill of gold to the north of the map. THEN in the LGO go to the hill of gold it might take a couple tries but you can get them and if you gave them amazing skills like Heroic in food that can be an amazing boost. make them strong enough and they can basically carry you for most of your run.

ALSO as the wedding boon for Beren and Redalda’s wedding you can ask that your people never forget Ernalda’s fertile fields. I assume that will provide a food buff to your people in the next game (gonna try it as soon as I complete another playthru of RLTW).
