UCCs and How to Properly Service Them
By Wiz.
Basic Information
Universal Control Circuits (UCC) help your Star-Hauler talk to different systems it needs to use every day. This is from the User Manual. All UCCs work the same way. There aren’t different types. They have 100 Hit Points and cost $150. The price can change depending on where you are in the galaxy.
Where to Get UCCs
Trading & Markets
- Most trading places in the galaxy sell UCCs, including Auto Essentials. Remember, UCCs are in the Electronics category. They can be expensive in some places, especially in Mineral Colonies. This is because many electronics can break easily if shaken.
Salvaging
- Salvaging is a good way to make money and find things without spending. You can sometimes find UCCs and Power Cells this way. But it can be hard to find stuff to salvage unless you’re close by or have a better Scanner.
Servicing & Replacing
When you dock at a station, your rig uses station power instead of Power Cells. But Universal Control Circuits (UCCs) keep working all the time. Be careful when handling UCCs. Damaging them can make them work less well and not last as long. You can move them in a container or put them down slowly on something.
Replacing a UCC with low Hit Points
You can’t see how long a UCC will last, so you need to check them yourself. The Breaker is under the stairs between your bed and storage rack. Always turn off the breaker for the UCC you want to replace. If you don’t, you might short-circuit your truck and other systems might turn off.
Replacing a Dead UCC
Some drivers use UCCs until they completely stop working. You can see if your UCCs need replacing on channel 3 of your Left Monitor:
- [ONLINE] means systems are working
- [OFFLINE] means the breaker switch is off
- [ERROR] means your power cell might be empty or your UCC might be broken
If your Suit Charger or Gravity Compensator stops working, it might be because your UCC is worn out. Shock Shielding doesn’t use a UCC – it uses Shock Pods instead.
If a UCC has no Hit Points left, you can replace it without turning off any breakers or causing a short circuit.
Stockpiling
It’s a good idea to keep extra Universal Control Circuits (UCCs) with you. This helps if one breaks during a long trip. How many you keep depends on how much money you have and what you prefer.
Your Star-Hauler uses 4 UCCs at a time. It’s good to keep these extras in a single hard case. If you have more UCCs than you want, you can sell the extra ones. This is up to you.
