Summoners War – Tips for Getting Started

Starter Tips for New Players

Introduction

There’s a ton of different content in this game and it’s easy to get lost and not know what to work on as a new player.

One thing we need to get out of the way before we start – this is a PvP focused game. Practically all 5* monsters are designed for PvP. And on the other hand, specific lower rarity monsters that are easily farmable were purposely designed to be the best options for PvE.

It’s not like other gacha games where higher rarity monsters are always better than lower rarity monsters, and the only reason for using lower rarity monsters is to tide you over until you are able to summon 5* monsters. If you just do a quick search on youtube, you’ll find that even end game speed teams for all dungeons often comprise mostly of farmable monsters, even 2* and 3* ones. There are exceptions of course, and I’ll try to point out possible 5* options whenever they are valid.

But for the most part whatever rare monster you summon is not going to be useful early on, and you should just storage it until later. I know the feeling sucks but hey the bright side is that you can have the worst summoning luck in the world and still manage to get through the game just as fast as your friend who summoned 3 LD nat 5’s in his first week.

6* Lapis for Farming

For the first part of the game just complete the scenarios and start following the Summoner’s Way quests. The 4* Water Magic Knight you get for free early on is actually a super useful monster and one that you will be using forever. She should be the first monster you evolve to 6*. Initially, you can equip her with the Fatal/Blade set you get from Event 1 of the Summoner Welcome Event.

Her main role is as a farmer. Whenever you need to level up other monsters, you can farm Faimon Hell stage 1 using her and the monsters you want to level up. You can bring 3 monsters with her or just 1 at a time (leaving 2 slots empty), it doesn’t matter. Faimon Hell is the best place to farm for a number of reasons – it’s fast since it has squishy fire monsters for Lapis to kill, it gives a decent amount of exp (the harder the scenario, the more exp it gives), it drops inugamis which you’ll need a lot of to skill up all the inus you will be building, and it drops the crafting mat “solid rock” which you’ll need to craft buildings to complete some of the Summoner’s Way quests.

She’ll also be used for secret dungeons, early ToA and dungeons, guild content including monster subjugation and some lab stages, fire rifts, and your first 2A inugami B5 dhole team.

Join a Guild

You should be joining a guild and participating in guild content from day 1 of the game. Being in a guild instantly gives you some stat buffs, and gives you access to guild content which contain a ton of important rewards. You never really have to communicate or work together with your guild if you don’t want to, but being part of a guild is essentially a requirement for this game.

My recommendation is to just join a random guild at first, you can wait a bit and do some research to join a real/good guild later. Well, not quite completely random – search for a guild in game by going to the Community menu > Guild tab > Guild Info > scroll down for Search Conditions and search for a guild that is “Free Join” and Guild Level of Lv. 30 and up. If there are tons of results you can further filter by selecting Labyrinth Clear of A and up. Then if there are only a few options left, check them all by going to Profile > Guild Info > Detailed Info and pick the guild with the highest Last Month’s Avg. Guild Activity Pts. You want to look for a guild with over 8000 points if possible.

Every day make sure you do your 3 Guild Rival battles (they are basically same thing as Arena Rivals), and 5 Labyrinth lanterns/explorations. You should be able to auto stages on Easy at first, and then Normal difficulty pretty soon.

Siege battles and World Guild Battles will probably be too hard for awhile. You can check them out and see if there are easy bases to hit, but don’t worry too much about these yet.

Buy the Guild Magic Shop building asap, it refreshes every 8 hours and you can get the occasional potentially useful rune, gems/grinds, scrolls, and 4* monster pieces.

Every week from the guild shop you should be buying the 5* rainbowmon, and as many ifrit pieces as possible. You should be buying out ifrit pieces until you have all 3 elemental ones. Any leftover points after that should be saved for almighty scroll pieces.

Arena

Get in a habit of regularly using your arena wings to farm glory points. Set up a farm def (single fodder monster), and only hit other people who have similar easy defs. Soon you can start trading revenges with other people who have easy farm defs (go to your history to look at people who hit your defs, and revenge them) and it will be very low effort. If you have wings to burn and there are no easy targets to hit, you can just use them on rival Amir. Better than having them go to waste.

Devilmon is the #1 most important thing to get with glory points each week though, don’t forget it. But after that, you can get plenty of extra scrolls each week.

Another min-maxing thing to note is that your wings refresh every time you level, so you can take advantage of that and really get a lot of wings done early on when you level multiple times each day.

It is not worth spending crystals to refresh arena wings early on. When you get into PvP later it is an option to refresh to try to get a higher rank during rush hour.

Thanks for reading the guide, I hope it was helpful to you!
