Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance – Ultrawide Workaround

It seems like the resolution is not supported even you can select it in the menu. It’s basically cut of in the top and bottom.

The Guide

Playing the game in 21:9 mode is still an issue on the menus. In a few menu screens, some buttons might not be visible. To work around this, we suggest using a 16:9 or 16:10 resolution on these 21:9 monitors whilst on these menus.
In the missions, you can set the native 21:9 and everything works correctly. The main problem is on the management, encyclopedia and tutorial screens, which only work correctly, for now, on the 16:9, 16:10 ratios.

The devs

3840×1200

In my case native resolution 3840×1200 (32:10) i set the following values in the config file.

<render.mode.width>3840</render.mode.width>
<render.mode.height>1600</render.mode.height>

The config file is located here:

  • C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Terminator Dark Fate\profiles\5cf1fdac13fcb8d84a47b83e787050d0\gameoptions.xml

It is still a bit streched but at least i dont have the feeling to play tetris on a gameboy.

5120×1440

Can confirm that the 5120x1440p is flat out causing crashes on start up. As soon as I changed the gameoption files to:

<render.mode.width>2560</render.mode.width>
<render.mode.height>1440</render.mode.height>

It loaded straight up.

How to Fix the Lagging Issue for UW or Max Settings

  1. Hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.
  2. Find trm.exe in your details.
  3. Change the Priority to High (I chose Real-Time cause I have a beefy CPU).

This should fix the lagging issue. I guess they put this on an absurdly low priority instead of forcing it to high like some games.
