Introduction
While at first glance, it might appear more confusing than the old system, this system makes the player much more aware of their resource management, and also provides more flexibility between earlier event banners.
In addition, 4-star and 6-star fairy fragments are now converted into ovules with a brand new sprite. Fragments for individual fairies, however, are now stored in a special bag that is accessible within the Fairy Flower menu, and no longer take up bag space.
The ratio of fragments to fairy star levels remains the same in terms of ascension.
In the patch, from within your bag, existing 6-star fairy fragments that combine into a specific fairy are automatically converted into the new type of 6-star fairy fragments found in the Flower Fairy menu, and regular 4- and 6-star fairy shards are converted to their respective ovules.
Gacha
Fairy Flower Summoning results. 3-star fairies are now automatically converted into Fairy Light Essence, and 4-star fairies into their respective elemental fairy fragments.
When you pull for fairies in the fairy flower gacha, the first copy of each fairy will remain a fairy, while subsequent copies will be instantly converted into fragments. 4-star fairies are converted into 20 fragments of their own element, while mythical fairies are converted into 60 fragments of their own.
Ascension
Ascension now requires fragments instead of the base fairy.
When ascending 6-star flower fairies, the following rules can be applied:
- 60 mythical fairy fragments = one mythical fairy
- 180 purple element fragments = one 6-star elemental fairy.
As a result, the following are the required costs to ascend a 6 star mythical fairy; in the table below, “fairy fragments” would refer to the shard of the fairy being ascended, while “element fragments” would refer to purple fragments of the same element as the fairy being ascended.
Table representing the material costs for ascending a 6-star fairy flower from its 6-star to the maximum rainbow 3 (18-star). The running total represents the most cost efficient method of upgrading. It is possible to replace every 180 Element Fragments with 60 Fairy Fragments, although it is not recommended due to the disparity in rarity between the two resources.
Star Ascension Level | Required Materials (Fragments) | Total (Fragments) |
★ → ★★ | 60 Fairy | 60 Fairy |
★★ → ★★★ | 180 Element | 60 Fairy + 180 Element |
★★★ → ★★★★ | 60 Fairy | 120 Fairy + 180 Element |
★★★★ → ★★★★★ | 360 Element | 120 Fairy + 540 Element |
★★★★★ → ★ | 120 Fairy | 240 Fairy + 540 Element |
★ → ★★ | 120 Fairy + 180 Element | 360 Fairy + 720 Element |
★★ → ★★★ | 120 Fairy + 180 Element | 480 Fairy + 900 Element |
★★★ → ★★★★ | 1080 Element | 480 Fairy + 1980 Element |
★★★★ → ★★★★★ | 1080 Element | 480 Fairy + 3060 Element |
★★★★★ → ★1 | 1080 Element | 480 Fairy + 4140 Element |
★1 → ★2 | 180 Fairy + 540 Element | 660 Fairy + 4680 Element |
★2 → ★3 | 180 Fairy + 540 Element | 840 Fairy + 5220 Element (equivalent to 14 [+1] copies of a fairy + 261 4-star fairies) |
Ascension from 11 to 12 stars; a mixture of resources is ascending material is required by the game
For ascension steps that used to require a copy of the fairy at a higher star level (such as requiring an 8-star fairy when ascending from 11 to 12 stars), the game now requires the most efficient mixture of fragments (120 fairy + 180 element), as shown in the image above (Figure 3). It is highly recommended to follow what the game requires and use as many purple element fragments as permitted without converting 6-star fairy fragments into purple fragments.
In the case of Holy Fairies, purple Holy element fragments can only be acquired temporarily at the moment of ascension. It is possible to mix fragments of different Holy fairies, so those who cannot afford to pull 120 times to get a complete fairy can still dismantle partial fragments to ascend existing holy fairies.
A fairy that requires purple holy element shards to ascend
Conversion menu
To do this conversion, head to a fairy that requires purple Holy fragments, and click on the <+> button, as shown below in the first image (Figure 4). After that, select which Holy fairy shards you wish to convert into Holy element fragments (Figure 5). If you have fragments from more than one Holy fairy available, it is possible to mix; however, the conversion will only happen if the total number of Holy fairy flower fragments adds up to the exact amount of Holy element fragments required to ascend.
Conversion
In my opinion, this is the winner of this patch, as it allows you to essentially use incomplete fairies to contribute to building third-generation elemental fairies (Daisy, Rose, Viola, Dandelion). In Elemental Link events, if you pull less than 120 times, you will receive fragments of the fairy, but not enough to use to ascend the fairy you pulled for. However, these fragments can be converted into fragments for the aforementioned Banner 6-star fairies.
To access this feature click this button:
Conversion menu
You can select from the following fairies/purple element fragments to convert to.
Fairy shard selection within conversion menu
After selecting what to convert to, you can select which fairy flower fragments to sacrifice in the conversion.
Selecting 6-star fragments to convert into another 6-star fairy’s fragments.
In this step, Fairy Light Essence will be consumed depending on the type of fairy fragment being used up during conversion:
- 1 purple (elemental) fragment ===(cost)===> 20 Fairy Light Essence.
- 1 6-star fairy fragment ===(cost)===> 75 Fairy Light Essence
Note: Fairy Light Essence is not consumed when converting a 6-star fairy into purple element shards of its own element.
When converting, it is possible to convert 6-star fairy fragments into another 6-star fairy’s fragments at a ratio of 1:1, and into purple element fragments at a rate of 1 6-star fairy fragment to 3 purple element fragments. However, it is not possible to convert in the opposite direction.
When converting 6-star fragments into another fairy’s 6-star fragments, there are specific rules that the game follows to determine what can be converted and what cannot.
- Element -> Element
- Gen 1 → Gen 1, Element
- Gen 2, Gen 3 → Gen 2, Gen 3, Element
- Gen 4+ → Element
Exceptions/Bugs:
- Dandelion and Hyacinth switch generations when they are the ones being converted. (Hyacinth can be converted into Gen 2 and Gen 3 6-star Fairy fragments, while Dandelion cannot)
- In order to convert a 6-star Fairy Fragment into a purple element fragment of their own element (i.e., Ixora into Fire Fragments), it must be done at the moment of ascension by clicking on the <+> button when you lack purple shards of the specified element). In the general conversion function, you can only convert a fairy to other elements.
Combining 60 shards into a fairy that was not previously owned.
If you convert 6-star fragments into 60 fragments of a 6-star fairy that you do not own, the <Combine> option will appear, allowing you to obtain a fairy that you have never pulled before.
Dismantling
The button to open the special bag which contains all of your Fairy Flower Fragments.
Selecting a shard to be dismantled further into Fairy Light Essence and Shiny Time Coins.
Flower Fairy Fragments can be dismantled further by accessing your Fairy Flower Fragment bag through the button shown in the first image (Figure 10). Upon clicking on a Fragment category that you wish to dismantle, select the <Recycle> option. The fragments are converted into other materials in the following ratios:
- 1x Purple Element Fragment → 20 Fairy Light Essence
- 1x 1st generation 6-star Flower Fairy Fragment → 1 Shiny Time Coin + 20 Fairy Light Essence
- 1x 2nd (and later) generation 6-star fairies, and Holy fairies → 4 Shiny Time Coin + 15 Fairy Light Essence
Unneeded 6-star Fairy Flower Fragments (i.e., those of a fairy that are maxed) that cannot be converted into another 6-star Fairy’s Fragments should be recycled for Shiny Time Coins. These should never be converted into Purple Element Fragments, as the conversion ratio is very inefficient.
Outliers: Chests
Mythical (6-star) fairies obtained from chests (such as the Treasured Flower Fairy Selection Pack, and the Fairy Flower Selection Pack) are given to you as the fairy. You must head to the <Reset & Dismantle> menu to convert into fragments.
On the other hand, this is the only way to have more than one of the same fairy at a time (if you want a fairy on two different formations running different wills, having two of the same fairy will allow you to have two concurrent Fairy Flower Will setups, which makes switching formations easier mid-battle).
Conclusion: Perks of the New System
While confusing, this new system does bring a few benefits. Through conversion, you are able to access all of the 1st to 3rd generation fairies, even if you have never pulled them on a gacha banner before. This allows you to farm resources (gold costume gacha coins) from companionship, or get a higher levelled elemental echo.
Dismantling has been improved for 6-star fairies. The amount of Shiny Time Coins has increased by 20% compared to before the update.
Ascension-wise, this patch makes the player extra aware to use their Fairy Flower resources as efficiently as possible by making as much use of materials originating from 4-star fairies whenever the option is available.
That’s all! I really appreciate it if you’ve made it this far. See you in the game!
