Transport Fever 2 – Achievement Tips

Most of the achievements seem to be fairly easy to get but there are a few that are badly explained so I thought it might be helpful a few hints might help. These are in no particular order…

Tips for Some Achievements

No country for old trains

The train depots come with about 20m of low speed track tat you can’t upgrade. The only way to get this achievement is to destroy all your depots.

Big spender

This is a monthly maintenance of 200million not a yearly maintenance. The best way to do this is save up and then buy about 150 TGV’s or similar. I saved up 13billion it might be possible with less (9billion wasn’t enough).

Museum line

There seems to be some confusion over what is required, it’s only buses. I just built a small loop with two bus stops and had them go around and around for 120 years. If you want to minimise maintenance costs I assume you could keep them in a depot until the last bus is released.

Louis Favre

Save up a ton of money, save the game an build tunnel after tunnel next to each other.

Glacier express

Save up a ton of money (1billion should be enough) and terraform a flat area 450+ meters at the edge of the map. Add two 80m stations and a depot and the cheapest train you can.

Trans-Siberian Railway

Play a long thin extra large map and just build tracks up and down the long side. This is a lot of track, way more than you’d normally build even in a large map.

Charles Alton Ellis

Save up, spam bridges.

Speed of light

You need a very long section of straight and flat track to achieve this. I did this with the TGV but I suspect it would be easier with the Hao.

Metropolis

I’ve still not managed this one but I assume it requires a map with a sufficiently large starting city since the final size seems to be dependent on the starting size.

Cannot get enough

I did this by accident when the interface glitched and I assigned every vehicle to one line, sigh. Probably best done in combination with big spender though.

Transport belt

The longest station is much longer than 320m, about 500m I’d guess. Just buy a stupidly long train and then sell it.

Back to the future

Start a new map, select custom settings and activate the sandbox mod. When the map loads you’ll be able to right click in the bottom right corner and set the date.

Hope that helps.
