You can try to min max but in this game what eventually wins battles is your strategy, because you and the enemies are mostly equals and they can hit you just as hard as you can, and even with the best armor in the game you aren’t invincible and as soon as your armor degrades it loses its effectiveness.
If you loot weapons i suggest to just break them down into scrap metal for crafting.
As for melee, you should bring a shield with you to minimize damage received. Also bring a repair kit to regularly repair your weapon and shield. When you repair it when it’s only a little bit broken, you use up less of the repair kit than when it’s pretty worn out.
Basically the sooner you repair your stuff with the repair kit the more uses you will get out of the kit.
Are you having problem finding a shield? once you have one and a good melee weapon like the lucifer you will be able to get pretty rich on selling serums, and it’ll help you get those weapon attachments.
And yea you are just gonna end up with chests and chests of stuff you will never need.
