V.A Proxy – 104 Boss Guide

Tips to Beat 104 Boss

Сrеdit gоеs to Jinn!

The biggest issue I had early on was that I kept trying to parry everything, but you can’t. There is only one move in 104’s kit that you can reliably parry, and the truth is, you shouldn’t parry it unless you need to heal and don’t have a better window to do so with your companion. That move is his “rushing judgement cut” (the barrage of slashes after he rushes towards you). Instead of parrying this move in particular, you should dash into and around it, trying to keep yourself within his area so that you can then immediately start attacking him once your dodge completes.

If you want this fight to be done easy, then constantly bait this move out by running away and never staying close other than to attack him. This move is practically guaranteed right after his “judgement cut end” (the big red aoe that becomes a bunch of slashes around the arena) since you’d already have the distance necessary for 104 to rush at you. However, that is not the only move in his kit that can be punished.

In-fact, judgement cut end is the only move that cannot be punished, namely because you’re forced to run away, lest you get one-shot almost every single time it hits you. Now, assuming you dislike the easier route of baiting his rushing attack and want to get this fight done faster by dishing out more damage, here’s my personal advice for countering the rest of his attacks. That said, if you escape his judgement cut end, you can use that window to heal to full health. Personally, you should avoid parrying in favor of dodging to get more damage done.

  • First off, here’s some obvious ones.
  • The single projectile slash can be dodged and then you can immediately attack afterwards.
  • The three projectile slashes can be punished by attacking before he throws them out. Otherwise, above.
  • The slam attack can be jumped over allowing you to use a slam attack and follow-up from there.

Then there’s the ones that I believe to be a bit more trickier to contend with.

  • His slash barrage will not always be three hits. If you move away from him after his first two hits, he won’t do his third, meaning you can dash (or the second sword’s dash attack) back to him right away. Conversely, if you spam dodge the first two strikes, then wait to dodge his third, you can attack him from there, as well.
  • Finally, his sudden non-blade barrage dash can catch people off guard. Especially because he does it often after you parry his blade barrage dash and think you can get a hit in afterwards. Generally, if you dodge towards 104 right after he does his non-blade dash you can immediately get some hits in.

I hope even one of these tips here can help you.

My final tip, treat this game like Devil May Cry. Ignore the souls-like difficulty of your low health and embrace a more bloodborne-esque aggression. You can and will get hit, but you can easily heal thanks to the existence of parries.
