Baldur’s Gate 3 – How to Fix Mods after Hotfix #18

Larian has for seemingly no reason reorganized the .exe files in hotfix #18 breaking every mod that relies on the script extender or the mod fixer.

Because it took me quite a bit of time scouring the internet to find a fix, I’ll share it here.

Note: This will revert the game to how it was before hotfix #18. Obviously the contents of hotfix #18 will not stay after you revert. If you have already played with hotfix #18 I am not sure what will happen to your save if you try to revert to a previous version. Backup your saves to be certain.

How to Fix Mods

Windows + R to open the run prompt

Enter the line below to open the steam command console in your steam client.

steam://open/console

Enter this command to download the bin files pre-hotfix #18: (Roughly 50 MB)

download_depot 1086940 1419652 8231067205656009020 [<delta manifestid>] [<depot flags filter>] : download a single depot

Once the download is finished you can find the downloaded files where your steam client is installed for example:

  • D:\Steam\steamapps\content\app_1086940\depot_1419652

Backup your BG3 bin folder if you want to be sure nothing breaks.

Overwrite the depot bin folder into your BG3 install folder, ensure you get the file structure correct, if it asks you to overwrite you should be good and everything should now be as before hotfix #18.
