Walkthrough

Ask about Sensei Ishikawa at the inn

Speak to the man outside of the inn in Hiyoshi Springs.

Tip: Before speaking with the man at the entrance, you will find Flowers that can be collected from the nearby pot plant.

Several other resources can also be found as you travel through the springs.

Follow the innkeeper through the springs and survey the area for Ishikawa’s Dojo when prompted.

Following the wind as guidance, make your way to the Dojo on top of the cliff – note: you can use your horse during this section.

Upon reaching the Dojo, investigate the scene for clues by examining the two dry pools of blood on the ground.

Finally, examine the bloody footprints before leaving the building.

To find Sensei Ishikawa, head outside and follow the footprints and bloody tracks that can be found in the mud. These will lead to the nearby hut. Open the door to trigger a cutscene.

Go with Sensei Ishikawa

Follow Sensei Ishikawa as you track Tomoe, a skilled archer and former student of Ishikawa’s.

Along the path, you will encounter six Mongol soldiers. Take them out with Sensei Ishikawa’s help. Given the danger that archers often present, attempt to take them out first.

Once you have defeated the Mongol’s, continue following Sensei Ishikawa until you reach the nearby camp.

Investigate the Camp

Learn clues about the ambushed camp by examining the food by the campfire, the blood by the chair, and the quiver left by the large rock.

Speak with Ishikawa once you have examined all of the clues left at the camp.

Follow Sensei Ishikawa

After the cutscene, follow Ishikawa to Fort Nakayama. As you reach the fork in the road, Ishikawa will give you his Half Bow.

Complete the bow training by shooting the candles inside the marked lanterns.

Tip: Holding R2 for too long will result in Jin letting go of the arrow.

Now that you have finished the training, continue following Sensei Ishikawa to the lookout point.

Survey Fort Nakayama

Survey the fort to learn more about the fort and find the best strategy for attack.

After surveying the area, fire an arrow at the hornets nest to distract the soldiers.

As the hornets attack the soldiers, fire an arrow in the flaming brazier by the fence and then shoot the barrel closest to the soldiers on the left to cause an explosion.

Finish off any remaining soldiers on your left.

Tip: Arrows will drop over long distances, so take that into consideration when aiming at soldiers from afar.

With the soldiers to your left taken care of, turn your force on the soldiers that come rushing out of the gate on the fort’s right.

Avoid aiming for too long, as you’ll take significant amounts of damage from incoming arrows. Listening for the whistle that comes right before an arrow is shot, will help you avoid taking unnecessary damage.

Tip: Before leaving the lookout point, replenish your arrows.

Rid Fort Nakayama of Mongols

Having defeated the forces outside the gates, head inside the fort and defeat any mongols inside.

You will find 11 Mongols which can mostly be taken out by using the environment around the camp.

You will find several explosive barrels not too far from the entrance of the right gate and several flaming lanterns that can be found above the archer towers and on the fort’s fences by the gate.

Tip: Running low on arrows? You’ll find an ammo rack when entering through the right gate of the fort and turning left. You will also find several supplies when searching the fort and its buildings.

Speak with Sensei Ishikawa

After clearing the fort of Mongols, speak with Sensei Ishikawa.

Investigate Fort Nakayama

Learning that Tomoe isn’t among the slain slaves, investigate the fort for any clues of her whereabouts.

You will find the clues by investigating the scroll found inside the large building towards the fort’s left gate.

Another clue can be found when examining the arrows in the hay bales by the fence near the ammo rack.

The final clue can be found by examining the clothing inside the large open building.

Help the Survivor

Follow Sensei Ishikawa and speak with the injured man. After speaking with the survivor, follow Ishikawa to end the tale.
