Blasphemous 2 – Flawless Penance Guide

This guide aims to net players who are intimidated with Flawless Penance achievement. In order to get this achievement, players have to win a single bossfight without taking any damage and considering the experience after the first tutorial bossfight, this achievement seems daunting and time investing to learn boss attack patterns.

However, there’s one boss that allows this achievement to be possible due to its simplicity of attack pattern.

Weapon of Choice

Сrеdit gоеs to 秦油瀚 !

The Veredicto is your only trusted weapon in this fight. For those who don’t know, it is the heavy censer in your arsenal. You may argue that Twin Rapier or The Blade is more favorable due to any personal opinions. Perhaps the possibility to block the boss attack (which I didn’t try), but I digress since both weapons’ effective range will lock you out of the achievement due to the boss’ melee long melee attack.

The key to this fight is about keeping the boss at the distance and chipping its health bar while building the Fervor (The magic bar) to cast DPS spell which I’ll cover at the next section, and the Veredicto is the only weapon that covers long range attack safely from the distance.

Chant of Choice

For simplicity, I just call this ‘Ground Fire’ spell. The reason why this chant/spell is favorable due to the boss pattern that makes it idle in certain spot while attacking you. When your MP/Fervor bar is enough to cast this spell, cast it in that particular window of opporunity.

Guide to Achievement

So that we have finished preparing for the battle, the boss in the question is Great Perceptor Radames, located at Sacred Entombments objective point.

The boss has a long range of melee attack from its club. But other than that, it moves slowly, and its attacks are easily avoidable.

With that said, time to get into its attack patterns:

Phase 1:

  1. The fight starts with the boss swing its club.

Press the attack button as soon as the fight begins to land a cheeky attack before keeping the distance, or just play it safe.

  1. It will raise its fingers to fire several slow moving fireball.

React accordingly by either ducking or jumping. If the opportunity persists, get close and land two jump-swings while it is attacking with this attack.

Do Not cast your Ground Fire spell to lock you out of the achievement in this pattern. You are vulnerable to the boss attack even in the kneeling animation.

  1. A wide vertical club swing that covers huge distance.

When its eyes flashes, immediately keep distance. Do not attack.

  1. It will charge toward you. There is a hint where shards will come out of the body as it winds up.

Run to the edge of the wall, use the ledge and jump behind the boss as it charges. Once you land, jump attack the boss once or twice, or simply cast your Ground Fire spell. Then quickly keep the distance because the boss will swing its club in retaliation.

Rinse and repeat, when the boss grows taller and starts eating, it marks the second phase of battle with certain addition.

  1. When the boss starts eating, it enters the I-frame. Nothing you can do to chip its health. Not even casting your Ground Fire if your MP/Fervor bar allows. Watch out for the falling debris from the sky and focus dodging them.
  2. The boss will have a new attack by raising shards from the ground.

Jump-attack while dodging the shard. Keep repeating to chip its health during this attack pattern. Do not jump to the ledge since the shards travel to the ledge.

  1. The falling debris will be added to the previous attack patterns during phase one.

Keep track of your screen will help you to avoid the falling debris. Don’t worry. The debris fall slowly and manageable.

The key to this fight is to play it safe from the distance and pick your time to cast your Ground Fire magic. If you missed the timing to cast the Ground Fire magic, immediately pull back and keep your distance from the boss’ club swing.

Don’t hesitate to reload the checkpoint if you are damaged in this fight.

That’s the end of the guide, I hope I manage to get my point across. Thank you for reading and have fun in the game.
