Deskrawl: Idle ARPG – Hunter Slap Trap Build Guide

Hunter Slap Trap Build

Traps are the main source of damage, boosted by poison. The full Trapper set rune is required for this. Physical damage dealers can also use this build with traps as utility, but you will sacrifice a lot of stats to reach the required CDR. This version has not been tested.

The build is not good against ranged bosses or melee bosses with ranged skills, as Hunters can be killed in one hit.

CDR Requirements

There are two important CDR breakpoints:

CDREffect
66.7% CDRBoth traps reach a 4.5-second cooldown and Strong Attack reaches a 0.2-second cooldown. Shockwave has a 6.7-second cooldown.
79%+ CDRShockwave reaches a 4-second cooldown without any points in Concussive Force.

At 66.7% CDR, add points to Concussive Force to increase Shockwave’s push and give it time to recover its cooldown.

Skills

Use the following skills:

  • Poison Shot
  • Venom Bolt
  • Frozen Trap
  • Poison Trap or Shockwave

  • Attack Speed: 10/10
  • Long Shot: 8/8, providing 120% damage at distance

  • Sharpshooter: 6/6
  • Rapid Reset: 1/1
  • Concussive Force: 5/5, only when running 66.7% CDR

Paragon

Use Paragon points to fill whatever stats you are lacking.

  • If you need CDR, add points to CDR.
  • If you need survivability, add points to Bonus Health.
  • Allocate remaining points according to your needs.

Stats

When using traps as the main source of damage:

  • Crit Chance: 20% gives 100% trap crit chance at a distance.
  • Crit Chance: 38% gives 100% trap crit chance anywhere.
  • Crit Damage: Get as much as possible, since your traps will crit all the time.
  • Attack Speed: A decent amount is needed to sustain mana generation.
  • Mana on Kill: Required because you use Strong Ability to reduce trap cooldowns.

Damage Bonuses

Get at least one stat of each of the following, if possible:

  • Special Ability Bonus x2
  • Strong Ability Bonus
  • Damage vs Vulnerable
  • Damage vs Healthy
  • Damage vs Injured
  • Damage vs Elite
  • Damage vs Immobilized
  • Damage vs Slowed
  • Poison Damage

Items

You need decent equipment. Ancient or Blackmist equipment is good, while Divine equipment is better. The Divine ring has CDR.

CDR Sources

Look for CDR on:

  • Helm
  • Shoulder
  • Gloves
  • Belt
  • Necklace

The Reaper Pauldron is required to trigger Mana on Kill.

Gameplay Tips

Rift Runs

Use both traps to clear waves.

Boss Fights

If the boss is close enough, swap Poison Trap for Shockwave.

Against ranged bosses, you can use both traps if you can survive.

Build Purpose

This build is for fun rather than pushing Rift stages. Slapping monsters with traps is the main appeal of the build.

The build works for the author, but if it does not work for you, you may be missing something.
