Assassin’s Jur Critical Rolling Cutter Build
This is a melee DPS build centered around Rolling Cutter. The build requires a high amount of Critical, which can be difficult to obtain in Ragnarok: The New World unless you are playing Gunslinger. Despite this limitation, the build can still be used if you want to focus on Critical-based Rolling Cutter damage.
Stats
Focus primarily on STR and LUK. Recommended distributions include:
- 50 STR / 50 LUK
- 60 STR / 40 LUK
- 40 STR / 60 LUK
You can invest in AGI if desired, but it is not recommended for this build. Rolling Cutter is designed around skill spamming, and even with 60 AGI, the additional hit frequency during the skill’s cooldown window is not significant enough to justify heavily investing in AGI.
STR increases your damage, which also increases Critical damage, while LUK improves your ability to land Critical hits. Rolling Cutter can Critical, making LUK particularly important for this build.
Skill Point Allocation
Thief
- Double Attack: 10/10
- Double Slash: 10/10
- Improve Dodge: 10/10
- Hiding: 5/5
- Dodge: 5/5
Assassin
- Jur Mastery: 10/10
- Enchant Poison: 5/5
- Venom Knife: 5/10
- Viral Spread: 10/10
- Enhanced Hiding: 10/10
Assassin Cross
- Rolling Cutter: 10/10
- Advance Jur Mastery: 10/10
- Enchant Deadly Poison: 10/10
- Poison Buster: 10/10
You may not have enough skill points to max every Assassin Cross skill at level 70+. Prioritize them in this order:
- Rolling Cutter: 10/10
- Enchant Deadly Poison: at least 5 points
- Advance Jur Mastery: at least 1 point
- Poison Buster: at least 1 point
After investing those 21 points, place your remaining points into Enchant Deadly Poison first, followed by Poison Buster, and then Advance Jur Mastery.
Cards
The build primarily uses melee cards because Rolling Cutter’s base damage uses Melee Damage. However, the special skill Spinning Fan of Knives uses Ranged P. Damage as its base.
For the Rolling Cutter-focused setup, use:
| Equipment | Card |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Panzer Goblin |
| Cape | Vagabond Wolf / Dragon Fly / Yao Jun / Baphomet Jr. |
| Accessories | Bongun |
| Shoes | Wild Rose |
Equipment
Recommended Equipment
- Weapon: Krishna (Jur) / Counter Dagger ×2
- Armor: Gale Robe II
- Cape: Royal Eagle Wing II
- Shoes: Black Leather Shoes II
- Accessories: Morriagne Belt ×2
Why Use Two Morriagne Belts?
Using two Morriagne Belts means you do not activate the Morriagne set effect, which provides:
- LUK +6
- Critical Damage +3%
- ASPD +1%
However, the build prioritizes Critical and skill spam rather than ASPD, making two individual Morriagne Belts more beneficial for this setup.
The relevant stats are:
| Equipment | Stats |
|---|---|
| Morriagne Belt | LUK +6, CRIT +5, CRIT +1 for every refine |
| Morriagne Pendant | AGI +6, ASPD +1%, +1% ASPD at +5 refine, +2% ASPD at +10 refine, +3% ASPD at +15 refine |
Rolling Cutter has a 0.5-second cooldown. During that cooldown window, investing heavily in AGI and DEX does not provide enough additional hits to justify changing the build’s STR/LUK focus.
The build therefore prioritizes STR for damage and Critical damage, while LUK increases the frequency of Critical hits with Rolling Cutter.
Rune Engine
Use the following Rune Engine options:
- AoE Amplification
- Balance Defense
- Layered Blade
- Desperate Strike
- Blood Thirsty Blade / Deadly Finale, depending on the situation
AoE Amplification
Rolling Cutter is an AoE skill, making AoE Amplification applicable to the build.
Balance Defense
Balance Defense increases your damage multiplier while your HP is above 50% and reduces damage taken while your HP is below 50%.
Layered Blade
Layered Blade increases your damage as you continue using your skills or hitting your opponent.
Desperate Strike
Desperate Strike increases P. Damage at the cost of reducing P. Defense and M. Defense.
Equipment Affixes
Free Spin
Increases Rolling Cutter damage by a percentage and can stack up to 10 times.
Spinning Fan of Knives
Whenever you use Rolling Cutter, another skill follows it without costing anything. This skill can also Critical.
Weapon Master [for Katar]
Increases P. Damage while wielding a Jur.
Venom Master / Rapid Venom
Can be used with either Katar or dual daggers to increase DoT damage for PvE.
You can use Venom Master or Rapid Venom instead of Free Spin when focusing on PvE DoT damage.
Weapon Master vs. Way of the Assassin’s
Way of the Assassin’s can also be used. However, according to the build, more than a level 3 purple Way of the Assassin’s is required to surpass a level 3 purple Weapon Master.
Skill Rotation
The basic rotation is:
Rolling Cutter > Basic Attack
Do not use Double Slash, Venom Knife, or other skills between Rolling Cutter casts unless required for a specific situation. Using these skills adds their Shared Cooldown to Rolling Cutter, resulting in approximately 0.5 seconds of lost time. This can mean losing one Rolling Cutter and one Spinning Fan of Knives activation.
Additional Skills
Use the following skills manually for the best DPS:
- Viral Spread: every 8 seconds
- Poison Buster: every 12 seconds
You can also include these skills in your auto-skill setup if you are likely to forget to use them.
Enchant Poison and Enchant Deadly Poison
Enchant Poison and Enchant Deadly Poison are buffs and can be used manually.
Do not use Enchant Poison against Shadow, Undead, or Holy targets.
This is particularly relevant when fighting Drac MVP and Osiris, where using Enchant Poison against an unsuitable element can result in lower DPS.
Counter Dagger Setup
If you are using Counter Dagger ×2:
- You do not need Katar Mastery.
- You do not need the Weapon Master affix.
- You can instead invest skill points into Two-Handed Mastery for 10% P. ATK.
Counter Dagger can provide more damage because it increases Poison Buster damage. However, this setup is less effective in PvP because Poison Buster relies on DoT, while PvP generally requires more immediate damage. It remains suitable for PvE.
Rapid Venom and Venom Master
If you are using Rapid Venom or Venom Master, take special care against Undead, Holy, or Poison targets.
Against these targets, Poison should not be used.
If you still want to use Poison for additional DPS, use Element Disruptor, which works only in PvE.
Level 80 Equipment Update
At level 80, P. Damage increases become available, allowing the build to transition to the Assaulter Set.
The recommended pieces are:
| Equipment | Base Effect | Refine Effect | Set Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Assaulter Plate | P. Damage +2% | +0.36% per refine | 2.5% |
| Captain Manteau | P. Damage +2% | +0.36% per refine | 2.5% |
| Battle Greave | P. Damage +2% | +0.36% per refine | 2.5% |
