Yakuza 0 – Grinding Tips for Newcomers to Cabaret Club

It was fun at first, now you just want it to leave you alone. Here’s some personal recommendations to help you get rid of it faster.

Introduction

Majima’s Cabaret Club side activity is… well… something interesting. While the premise might seem really unappealing at first, somehow it successfully manages to hook you in and make you have fun with it. Though the only problem is that it goes on for way too long; even longer than Kiryu’s side activity. And even if you want to quit, you really wouldn’t want to do it because of two reasons:

First, you make good money after beating each of the rivals: 1 billion yen for each one of them.

Second, the completion of cabaret club is necessary to obtain Majima’s fourth (and the most fun) combat style.

So, many would want to subject themselves to hours and hours of hearing the same, repetitive cabaret club music, over and over and over again, just to get those sweet rewards. Here’s some personal tips to speed up the progress.

All of The Tips, in No Specific Order

Get every available hostess

When you access the side activity for the first time, you won’t even have half the complete number of hostesses you can choose for a shift. The rest of them become available after doing certain substories, purchasing them with CP or recruiting them after finding them in various places in Sotenbori.

Some of these hostesses are actually great and will help you a lot. For example, Etsuko (recruited in The Obatarian Strikes side story) is one of the best talkers, or Ms Isobe (recruited through disco completion) is one of the best ones when it comes to partying. These guys can and WILL carry you forward fast.

Focus on platinum and gold, maybe silver, never bronze

Your platinum and gold hostesses are going to do most of the heavy work as they have a much higher stats cap; especially when it comes to rival battles. Focus on them and try to get their levels up as much as you can.

There may be a few silver hostesses (in my case, one of them being Erranda) that can end up being extremely helpful if you are trying to level up the other hostesses and don’t have enough people available for a shift, or if you have to compensate for the people of a location’s preferences. So have this in mind as well.

Bronze hostesses are worthless. Don’t spend any time on them unless it’s absolutely necessary, and never use them anywhere other than mars area.

Use your upgraded silver hostesses to increase fans in mars, jupiter and mercury areas

This one is pretty risky as it can actually cost you fans if you’re not prepared.

If you have good silver hostesses, you can use them to increase the number of your fans in mars, mercury and jupiter areas, while your platinum and gold hostesses are resting. Just pay attention to each area’s needs, and ignore wealthy and mega-rich people if you have no compatible hostesses available. Just let them leave and compensate for them by giving gifts to other customers.

Don’t even try to do this in venus and moon areas as it will NOT work and will have negative results.

Always do platinum hostesses’ special trainings

The dialogues might become somewhat of a bore to go through after a while, but each perfect lesson gives them enough experience to level up twice (once on higher levels), allowing for faster progression.

Sometimes you are forced to do a minigame. If it’s disco, always go for the easy difficulty. If it’s karaoke, refrain from choosing lively interjections. If it’s pool, may the gods of RNG have mercy on you.

Use the fever meter wisely

Fever meter is not just a way to make guests start spending obnoxious amounts of money. You can use this meter in two other ways as well:

An effective counterattack when your rival uses their own fever move

  • None of the rivals can earn more with their fever move, yet they can disrupt your operations by causing negative (and kinda ***) effects. Activating fever mode causes your hostesses to recover a part of their HP and counter those effects. Keep a good look on your fever meter, study the behavior of your rival and plan accordingly.

Manipulating less satisfied customers

  • Activating fever mode also increases the mood of the guests. However, who gets the mood boost is up to RNG. It either raises their mood to the next level, or puts them in instant “very satisfied” mood. Have a guest that is not very happy (not red/angry state) with a hostess? Pray to RNGesus, activate the fever meter and see if they suddenly become very happy with what they have. I mostly use this one to try matching a non-compatible hostess and customer to get skill experience for her. But I am not shy of using it in rival battles if I see the bar is filled enough to give me another fever move attempt shortly.

Ask for time extensions in rival battles

When given the option to ask for a time extension in middle of a rival battle, if the quest is spending a whole lot of money and/or is in fever mode, go for it. If you succeed, it gives you a guaranteed source of profit, instead of just praying the next guy will be a good spender.

Secure your profits and give gifts constantly

This is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED if you want to progress faster in the side activity. I recommend doing this as soon as the cabaret club is netting you enough money to cover the costs, so you don’t have to resort to your own pocket.

The procedure is simple. Keep the guests’ moods high. When they ask to check out and you see there’s an option to give expensive gifts, select that. That removes 500,000 yens from your profits, but massively raises your number of fans, which you need at least twice the number of your rival’s to be able to stand a chance against them. If you do this well, you can get at least 1000 fans every shift.

Alternatively, if you want to increase your hostesses’ HP to keep them in the game further rather than the number of fans, always give the gifts to them instead. Never choose praising unless you are doing a rival battle. Giving gifts not only has a higher HP recovering amount in exchange for the money you are spending.

Use your rival battle win rewards to get partnerships first

There are numerous shops in each area that you can partner with for easy fan increase. The majority of them need a payment, and the rest require you to befriend the owner through a substory. The amount you need will gradually go up as you progress through the side story.

After mars area, use your rival battle win rewards (the aforementioned 1 billion yen) to buy partnerships first and then spend it on something else. Don’t immediately spend it on abilities as a simple miscalculation can increase your grind time by a few cabaret shifts.
