How to Use the Universal Ultrawide Fix
The fix comes with a small Windows batch file named GK2_Ultrawide_Fix.cmd. Run it as administrator.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DHqULYuROo3Jt5SBhmQJcSzDS_ws-LB2
The .cmd file launches the included PowerShell patcher. It does not download anything and does not scan your entire computer.
When you run it, you will see:
- Apply / re-apply universal ultrawide patch
- Restore latest pre-patch backup
- Exit
Choose 1 to apply the ultrawide fix.
How Automatic Game Detection Works
The patcher first checks whether Assembly-CSharp.dll is located near the patcher itself.
If it is not found there, it checks the Steam installation path registered in Windows and reads Steam’s steamapps\libraryfolders.vdf. This allows it to find additional Steam libraries on other drives.
For example, installations such as these can be detected as long as those libraries are registered in Steam:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Graveyard Keeper 2
D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Graveyard Keeper 2
E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Graveyard Keeper 2
Inside the game folder, the patcher looks for GraveyardKeeper2_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll. It also checks for a slightly different _Data folder naming format in case the installation uses it.
Applying the Patch
If the file is found automatically, you do not need to enter anything.
The patcher locates ResolutionConfig.IsUltraWide inside the .NET assembly, creates a backup, applies the fix, and verifies the result.
A successful patch displays:
PATCH SUCCESSFUL
ResolutionConfig.IsUltraWide now always returns FALSE.
No aspect ratio will be filtered by this check.
The backup is created beside the original DLL as Assembly-CSharp.dll.gk2uw.bak.
After that, start the game and select your native resolution.
If Automatic Detection Fails
If the patcher cannot find the game automatically, it displays:
Assembly-CSharp.dll was not found automatically.
You can then paste any one of the following.
Full Path to the DLL
For example:
D:\steam\steamapps\common\Graveyard Keeper 2\GraveyardKeeper2_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll
Managed Folder
For example:
D:\steam\steamapps\common\Graveyard Keeper 2\GraveyardKeeper2_Data\Managed
The patcher will automatically find Assembly-CSharp.dll inside it.
Main Game Folder
For example:
D:\steam\steamapps\common\Graveyard Keeper 2
The patcher will search inside the game directory for the correct Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll.
You do not need to manually type the complete DLL path if you already know where the game is installed.
How to Find the Game Folder Through Steam
If you do not know where Graveyard Keeper 2 is installed:
- Open Steam.
- Right-click Graveyard Keeper 2 in your Library.
- Select Properties.
- Open Installed Files.
- Click Browse.
Steam will open the game’s installation folder. You can copy that folder path and paste it directly into the patcher.
The DLL itself should normally be located under GraveyardKeeper2_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll.
Restoring the Original File
Run GK2_Ultrawide_Fix.cmd again and choose 2.
The patcher will restore Assembly-CSharp.dll.gk2uw.bak over the modified DLL.
After a Game Update
A Steam update may replace Assembly-CSharp.dll.
If ultrawide stops working or the black bars return:
- Close the game.
- Run
GK2_Ultrawide_Fix.cmdagain. - Choose 1.
The patcher does not depend on the old physical byte offset inside the DLL. It searches for ResolutionConfig and IsUltraWide again using the assembly’s .NET metadata.
Normal updates that merely move the method to a different location inside the DLL should not matter.
If the developers completely rename or remove that class or method, the patcher will stop with an error instead of blindly modifying unrelated data.
What the Patch Changes
The game normally performs an ultrawide check through ResolutionConfig.IsUltraWide.
The patch changes that method so it immediately returns false.
In CIL, the patched method begins with:
ldc.i4.0
ret
This effectively tells the game: “This resolution is not blocked as ultrawide.”
The patch does not stretch the image and does not apply a fake FOV modification. The game itself then renders the native resolution normally.
