Strategy Guide
Сrеdit gоеs to Game Familiar!
Introduction
I wrote this guide to help newer players get a starting strategy that is both consistent and simple to follow. I’m valuing simplicity over optimal play:
- You can try to improve it by leaning into the overall strategy.
- You could also use the knowledge from the runs to adapt it by changing approaches, by being more damage focused or leaning more into heavy deck cycling, etc.
- I’m not claiming this to be the best or only way to go, or that you’ll find it fun to play. The only claim is that it works.
I will include an initial video of a full Curse 1 run using it, there might be more later, although most likely will be Curse 10, with the thinking that if it works there it works at lower curses.
Deckbuilding Strategy
- If it mitigates Damage click on it.
- If it deals Damage and Mitigates click on it more.
- Upgrade at every regroup until last regroup in Floor 2.
- If you hit all attacks prefer pulse and control effects over pure damage.
- Prefer non base card upgrades, you will likely hit some basics anyway.
- Prefer W – Parry upgrades over strikes.
- W – Strikes if you hit an only strikes hand.
- 4 – At scavenges prefer upgrades until you hit floor 2, then switch to removal and companionship level up.
- 5 – When removing cards prefer strikes over parries
- 6 – For AQ priorities go: Sustain > Damage Mitigation > Damage | Draw > Other effects
- 7 – Boss AQ reward: pulse over anything.
Consider
- Retribution as Damage
- Weakness as Guard
- Card Removal as Draw
- Charge Change, Knockback as Control Effects
Battle Tactics
- Do not skip any elite.
- When selecting starting tactics prefer pulse/block over draw.
- In fights with reinforcements do not kill multiple enemies in the same turn.
- Treat counter as two potential free turns
- The turn to counter is free because of mitigating the hit.
- The turn after is free because of the resources.
- Try to hold onto the counter if you already block for enough and save it to account for bad draw turns.
- Playing zeal cards helps delay the counter.
- Identify if the fight has a kill order and follow it, to be expanded on run videos.
