Gearing Up

When you first fight, him, he looks really hard, but he’s not that hard, to be honest. Make Copper Armor, which you can make at a copper anvil. Get a Wooden Bow and Copper Sword, and farm some Heart Berries and Bomb Peppers. If you don’t know how to farm, go to my “Core Keeper Farming for Dummies” guide. It’s pretty simple what to do, just cook the Heart Berries and Bomb Peppers and make Hearty Pepper Wraps. 10-15 should probably be good. Another thing you need to get is the “Swift Feather” You get this from Glurch, but you can also get it from those boxes you find in caves.

The Hunt

Now, you can skip this section if you have already found him. If you haven’t, it’s not hard to find him. Get out your copper pickaxe and go digging to each side in a straight line. You can tell if you’re getting close because you will see your screen vibrate and you will hear a thump. Once this vibration gets strong, stop digging for now. Make sure you are completely ready for the fight, and then start digging out in a plus shape at the end of your tunnel, except stop digging the tunnel in the direction you’ve already been digging. Dig about 15-20 blocks, and you should see a slime area and see a reddish glow coming from inside it. That is his arena.

The Battle

Once you are inside, you should see him. He is pretty obvious, seeing as he is a massive spiky slime with a blue gem inside him. He can jump really far and float over water and break blocks as if they were popsicle sticks, so you can’t make a moat or a wall or anything to stop his movement. Get your bow and start shooting him. He will begin hopping at you, and if he hits he will deal large amounts of damage. Dash under him using your Swift Feather and slash him, and then try and dash away, while eating your Hearty Pepper Wraps to get a speed boost and healing. When you get him down to 1/2 health he will stop moving, flash red, roar, and move quicker while dealing more damage. This is a very touchy stage, for if he hits you it will be very painful, and it is very easy to get hit. In this stage I reccomend you just spam dash until he pauses and then spam your bow. Note: This is much easier with a friend, cause you can have one person distracting him and leading him away, while the other person shoots him.

The Aftermath

Once you beat him, he will start flashing red and then he will die. Where he died, there will be a two block long chest, and that chest will have at least one swift feather, and it will have a drop most likely a Blob Rosary Necklace or a Melting Slime Ring. They are both good pieces of equipment, but you don’t get to choose which one. There will also be a guy with a beard and a big backpack. He lets you sell stuff to him, and you can buy stuff from him. He isn’t very important, but a thing inside the chest is. The “Glurch Eye” is a drop you will always get from Glurch. Go back to the statues around you base, and go to the one directly above The Core. Walk up, press “E” and put the crystal in. It will start to glow, and you will be able to make the Slime Sword, Glurch Tracker, and the Hive Mother Tracker. I recommend making all of these, starting off with the trackers, because they are cheap and helpful later game. Make the Slime Sword, and it will stick with you through a lot of the game.

That’s All, Folks!

Well, that is the end of my guide. I hope you enjoy it. Don’t forget to check out my other guides: “Ghorm the Devourer for Beginners” and “Core Keeper Farming for Dummies“.
