Can’t Run Game/Crashes on Save Load or certain actions (such as shooting police or double jumping/air dashing):

  • Using the AMM (Apperance Menu Mod) and having NPCS (any, even 1) follow you can mess with story missions and prevent further progressions ESPECIALLY those with followers/companions like Jackie. AMM likely causes a memory leak and crashes (or temporarly black screens, freezes) your Cyberpunk2077.exe and your PC, issue is more likely an issue with the game engine as AMM allows you to mess with the game in ways not intended.
  • If you haven’t every new patch, run Vortex (more efficient than manually updating mods) and check for mod updates. An orange icon on the mod version number will send you to a new tab on your default browser, then from there you can install the mods (hopefully mod author made a stable, vortex version) and it will auto-install most of the time. If you receive a pop-up, select ‘Install to Staging Area Anyway’
  • If a file conflict appears (Vortex), set lower mod version (older version) to ‘before’ or ‘before all’ and the new mod version (the new one, marked ORANGE by the way with ‘after’ or ‘after all’ or ‘any version’. Doing this will solve most conflicts, some conflicts are solely based on; for example, two shaders modifying the same value in the same file… something that can cause fatal errors in the game.

Mods not appearing even after making sure conflicts and versions are resolved:

  • Since Cyberpunk 2077 came out there are many “mod engines” or script extensions available to use, and some of these have more extensions that require a bunch of other mods. Around patch 1.63, regarded by the oldheads as “stable” (yeah but no Phantom Liberty bro) some of these mod engines/scripts fell out of use due to mod author lack of interest or just too many patches breaking the mods entirely and for the better sometimes.
  • A quick example #1: Cybercmd, a console for Cyberpunk 2077. This mod was abandoned, replaced with CET? Yes, and it works even better. So say you have a mod that requires Cybercmd, a defunct mod now. This mod will probably have also been abandoned due to an unsupported “source code”. It is best to avoid mods requiring unsupported requirements.
  • A quicker example #2: REDMOD, seriously. Even though it comes as an addon/DLC for the game, Vortex/nexusmods includes it as a “mod”, it functions like Cybercmd in principal but has been supported more and frequently. Known Issues include; and are most of the time that the mods don’t show up at all. Turns out for a few selective mods that use REDMOD or any other currently used mod engine require you to not vortex auto-install mods, but to MANUALLY INSTALL THEM to specific directories in your games folder.
  • For advanced modding enthusiasts, I can recommend this but for newer people I recommended doing everything with the auto-install through Vortex. It’s less tedious every patch, and you can easily resolve conflicts. If issues with mods functions appearing in-game, contact mod author or create a bug thread on the website your sourced the mod from. Remove “dormant” mods that don’t work until you find the error, also create a “collection” of mods to fall back on in the meantime.

Additional Detes (CyberCAT Save Editing, basically cheating, Vortex):

  • Vortex includes or you just need to install: CyberCAT Save Editor (accesible from Dashboard in Vortex). This software launches as a standalone application and from there you can modify any save file, even auto-saves and point of no return.
  • You can modify eddies, attributes, levels, weapons, clothing etc etc etc. Hearts desire type of modding. Cheat Engine for Cyberpunk 2077 in the value (memory modification).
  • Windows: press WIN + R (opens a small window, bottom left on standard windows OS). Then click inside the text field and press CTRL + V (copy this: C:\Users\Nora\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077) note that if installed the game outside of the main drive you have to find that folder ending in ‘Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077’ (some cases).
  • Once you do that, identify which save you want to modify. Then head to CCSE and click on ‘Load Save’, opens C:\Users\Nora\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077 automatically if not: paste the source folder url into the search bar (left one! not the right one. Should see a blue highlight, (paste with CTRL + V. ONLY NEEDED IF SAVE FILE FOLDER DOES NOT APPEAR, VARIES PER USER).

C:\Users\Nora\Saved Games\CD Projekt Red\Cyberpunk 2077

  • From there, once you click the save folder you want to modify (twice, leading to a sav.dat file, click ‘Open’ (bottom right).

Modify your file and then ciick ‘Save Changes’, select the save folder and overwrite with a ‘Select Folder’, a prompt to finish the process.

TL;DR: Open CCSE, load save, modify save, save save.

Conclusions/Extras:

  • Vortex is better than it was in 2021, so game should be easier to update every patch. All depending of course on whether or not the mod author updated the mod properly, regardless if auto-installed or manually installed. (Manual makes it harder to troubleshoot errors, conflicts, bugs and more, recommended for advanced users only.)
  • If you have issues, create a default collection, something that lumps all mods currently installed locally with disabled/enabled and conflict syntax (name it default for ease of porting to new system, and publishing to nexusmods as a ‘mod pack’) and make sure to have any new mods (from new > old) appear above it; this way, you can troubleshoot any errors when updating.
  • Note that some features require Nexusmods premium.
