Echoes of Aincrad – Tank 2H Sword Build Guide

Tank 2H Sword Build

A durable endgame build for players who enjoy using a two-handed sword while ignoring most enemy mechanics through high survivability and strong Sword Skill damage. Designed for Very Hard difficulty and fully capable of handling Death Game Mode once properly geared.

This build focuses on repeatedly using Sword Skills, weaving in normal attacks to recover SP and finish weaker enemies.

Recommended Stage

This build is intended for the endgame.

Recommended requirements:

  • Access to Keystones
  • Access to Purple EX Mods
  • Character level 160+

Weapon

Mithril Saber

Recommended because it provides:

  • High Sword Skill performance
  • Bonus damage effect
  • INT scaling, which increases:
  • EXP gain
  • Inventory slots
  • Status resistances

The Freeze effect is largely irrelevant for this build.

Alternatives

Any strong 2H sword can perform well, especially weapons with:

  • Dark Adaptation
  • Sword Skill-focused EX Mods

There is currently no 2H sword that significantly outperforms the Mithril Saber for this setup.

Recommended EX Mods

  • Damage Taken -30%
  • Sword Skill Damage +30%
  • Sword Skill Cooldown -30%
  • Experience Gained +30%

Once you reach your desired level, replace the EXP bonus with one of the following:

  • ATK
  • SP
  • Stamina
  • HP

Equipment

Recommended Set

  • Hero’s Attire
  • Bellringers
  • Hero’s Boots

Temporary Alternatives

Until you obtain the Hero’s set:

  • Earthly Jacket
  • Idaten Greaves

If you do not have Bellringers, use gloves that increase Sword Skill performance or SP, such as:

  • Sleek Gloves
  • Ragefang Gauntlets

Sacred Tree Brooch

Main Stone

  • Brown Stone

Provides a significant Sword Skill Damage bonus.

Secondary Stone

  • Blue Stone

Can be placed in the main slot if additional survivability is needed.

Small Slot

  • Red Stone

Provides a small defensive shield and is generally the preferred choice.

For exploration, you can replace it with:

  • Yellow Stone

Sword Skills

Brutal Fang

Primary damage skill with multiple hits.

Avalanche

Gap closer that allows quick engagement.

Cyclone

Circular AoE attack for clearing groups of enemies.

This combination performs well in nearly every encounter. The build’s high durability allows you to safely use multi-hit Sword Skills even against enemies with dangerous attacks.

Stat Distribution (Level 160+)

StatRecommended Value
VIT60+
END10
MND10
STR60+
DEX100
AGI1
INT90

Leveling Priority

  1. Prioritize DEX early.
  2. Gradually invest in INT.
  3. Add VIT whenever additional survivability is needed.
  4. Raise STR to 60 after reaching important DEX and INT milestones.
  5. Leave END and MND at 10, as this reaches their most efficient breakpoints.
  6. Keep AGI at 1 since normal attacks are only used between Sword Skills.

After level 160, additional points can be invested wherever desired. Strength is generally the most efficient choice, as survivability is already sufficient for virtually all current content.
