Fallout: New Vegas – Skilled Trait Exploit (195 Free Skill Points)

This is a Guide for the Skilled Perk Exploit which makes you save 15 points (and 3 extra from skill books) to get a skill to max level, saving in total 195 points when you finish this exploit.

How the Exploit Works

Сrеdit gоеs to Lynx!

Hello, I’m Lynx, a brazilian Fallout New Vegas player. And after doing 100% of this amazing game I have come to show you this little exploit that can help you achieve 100 in many more skills than you normally would.

The Exploit

When you start the game, you must choose the Skilled Trait on Doc Michel’s house. This perk makes it so you get +5 in ALL skills but also get 10% less experience.

Do note that the trait’s penalty of -10% experience gain does not stack, so it means you can get +15 points on all skills without having -30% exp gain.

After leaving the Doc’s house, you should walk away from Goodsprings until you get the option to recreate your character, just select everything that you selected before but on the Trait Selection tab, you should choose skilled AGAIN so you get another +5 to all skills, making it +10 in total.

If you have Old World Blues you can also change your traits in the Sink Auto-Doc and choose Skilled again for another +5, making it +15 in all skills and in total you get 195 extra skill points!

Final Results

If you leave all skills on 82 (or 79 if your selected skill has 2 skill books) , and read a skill book for a +3 (+6 if you read 2 skill books) on that specific skill, you will get 100 skill while saving 18 (or 21) points in that skill (pretty much the amount of points you get in a level-up).

  1. this isn’t even needed to get 100 in all skills btw. its fun to abuse after trying the game properly a few times or if you just wanna test stuff

  2. It’s worth to mention that YUP (Yukichigai Unofficial Patch) “fixes” this exploit, no extra points will be added
