What is new and different in the Builders Cup Career Mode compared to the Forza Driver’s Cup Career Mode in Forza Motorsport 7?
The Builders Cup is a spiritual successor to our community favorite career modes from Forza Motorsport 3 and 4. It takes the magic of what made those games so special, modernizes it and genre-blends it with RPG progression. We like to think of it as a CarPG with three core pillars: competition, car progression, and car building. Many features in the Builders Cup are totally new to Forza Motorsport and include Open Practice, Track Mastery, Challenge the Grid and more.
What are the CarPG elements we can look forward to in Forza Motorsport?
A CarPG is a racing game that is fused with the mechanics and deep progression of an RPG. This is demonstrated in Forza Motorsport by our car levelling and upgrades system, which reflects the work that you put into each car in the game.
How are cars selected for each Builders Cup Career Mode series?
Each series within the Builders Cup Career Mode is made up of exciting automotive stories. Separate to Car Divisions and PI classes, these racing series are curated to be your gateway to discovering new cars you can truly fall in love with. The ‘Built for Sport’ series we showed off on Forza Monthly features modern, compact sports car masterpieces like the 2020 Toyota GR Supra, the 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS, the 2017 Alpine A110 and the 2023 Nissan Z. In each Builders Cup series, you will take a single car and level, build and race it on your way to the series victory.
What is Open Practice?
Open Practice is where you can familiarize yourself with the car and the track combination. It is also where you will experience our new skill-based sector scoring system, Track Mastery.
What is Track Mastery?
Track Mastery is based on a concept in performance driving known as “10/10ths” which represents how close a car is being pushed to its absolute limits. Forza Motorsport calculates the fastest theoretical time through any corner using any car with any tune or upgrade. Players are scored against this and will be shown a 10/10ths score on-screen. The more you push the car in each corner, the more bonus XP you’ll be rewarded.
What HUD elements are visible in Open Practice?
Notable UI features include a target number of laps and lap time, Car Mastery (your car level) and XP. Your car will earn XP after every corner and as it levels up, this is highlighted on-screen.
What rewards can be unlocked by levelling up a car?
New performance upgrades are unlocked as your car levels up, and these can be fitted after every Builders Cup event.
What are Car Points and how can they be obtained?
Car Points are the resource used to install upgrades and can only be earned through in-game progression by driving and levelling up the car. You are not locked into any purchase choice you make with your car build as you can easily uninstall a part and regain those Car Points to use elsewhere.
Does Forza Motorsport allow players to purchase car upgrades with real money?
No – cars in Forza Motorsport can only be leveled up by driving them and earning new performance upgrades.
What cars in Forza Motorsport feature the Car Mastery progression system?
Car Mastery progression can be seen across the entire Forza Motorsport experience. It will be available for every car in the game.
Why did you create this new Car Mastery system in Forza Motorsport?
This new approach to car building in Forza Motorsport gives players agency, adds tons of replay value and encourages experimentation. Because you aren’t spending credits on upgrades, you no longer are forced to decide between buying a cool new car or upgrading your existing car.
What is Challenge the Grid?
Challenge the Grid is a new feature in the Builders Cup Career Mode that lets you add additional challenge to your experience, and additional rewards at the end of the race depending on your results. You can choose your starting position for the race, as well as change AI difficulty, race rules and damage settings.
What’s new in Featured Races?
Featured Races introduce new strategy elements like pitting where you can refuel and swap tires, as well our most advanced AI opponents yet, populated by your friends, their cars and their liveries. After a Featured Race, you’ll receive Series Points that lead towards the trophy.
How fast and competitive are AI drivers in Forza Motorsport?
Forza Motorsport introduces our most advanced AI opponents yet, trained using machine learning to create the fairest, most accurate competition. They can keep up with the fastest Forza drivers in our community at high difficulty levels and race competitively without any cheats or hacks.
What are the differences between the new AI in Forza Motorsport and the Drivatars in Forza Motorsport 7?
Drivatars in previous Forza Motorsport games were based on the player driving style. How you approach turns and corners, overtake other drivers, and your overall professionalism on the track influenced the way your Drivatar showed up in other players’ races. In the new Forza Motorsport, AI opponents are trained using machine learning to create the fairest, most accurate competition. This means fun, tight and clean racing that feels thrilling and intense! Players can turn up the difficulty and our AI will remain competitive without rubber banding or other speed boosts.
Will the Builders Cup evolve after the release of Forza Motorsport?
Yes, the Builders Cup Career Mode will evolve and expand after its initial release with new cars, tracks, events, championship series and new campaigns.
Does the Builders Cup Career Mode require a persistent online connection to play?
Builders Cup Career Mode is designed to evolve and expand overtime – we’ll be regularly introducing new championships and events, as well as pulling in your friends’ Drivatars and cars to your single-player experience. Also, the car-building mechanic featured in Builders Cup is a primary driver of the in-game economy for all of Forza Motorsport – to help us ensure the security and fairness of the game for everyone, we’ve opted to make progression server-based, which will require an online connection during Builders Cup.
Does Forza Motorsport include an offline supported mode?
Players who have fully installed Forza Motorsport can design their own single-player racing in Free Play even if they aren’t always connected online.
