Hey there Travelers! In this guide, we’ll be going over the limited time event hidden quest “Capturing Light and Shadow” from the V3.8 event area Veluriyam Mirage. I hope you’ll find this helpful.

Note: Once V3.8 concludes, you will no longer be able to return to Veluriyam Mirage, nor will you have access to the chests, materials, and quest rewards within. Remember to explore the realm in good time, Travelers.

Quest Trigger
Area becomes accessible after completing the main quest Part I of Veluriyam Mirage: An Invitation From Afar!
Teleport to the right waypoint of Silver Bottle Courtyard and glide directly to the Platform to the southeast of the map to ride the Choo-Choo Cart.(You must ride the Choo-Choo Cart here, or you won’t be able to pass through the yellow barrier by the cave entrance)
Once you’ve arrived, activate the underground waypoint then head up the stairs to the south of the map to automatically trigger the quest Capturing Light and Shadow.
Quest Summary
Follow the Water Droplet and unlock four [Streaming Projectors], then restore the mural.
Quest Steps
The First Hydro Eidolon
After triggering the quest, continue south until you reach the edge of the platform. Go over and touch the Hydro Eidolon below and follow it.
Follow the Hydro Eidolon and it will unlock a bubble-sealed Common Chest on the way. There’s a Scattered Yet Well-Preserved Pages (I) nearby.
After collecting the chest, the Hydro Eidolon will activate the Choo-Choo Cart nearby. Board the Cart till its destination.
Once at the destination, the Hydro Eidolon will come off the Choo-Choo Cart. Keep following it to unlock the seal on the Streaming Projector in front.
The Second Hydro Eidolon
Look east from the first Streaming Projector and fly over with the Four-Leaf Sigil.
Afterwards, climb up the wall to the east.
Then head into the passage to the north.
Here you’ll see a Hydro Eidolon surrounded by torches. There’s an investigation point by the wall nearby which has Scattered Yet Well-Preserved Pages (III). Extinguish all the torches to rescue the Hydro Eidolon and follow it.
Turn the corner to unlock another bubble-sealed Common Chest. Open it then continue further into the cave with the Hydro Eidolon.
Keep following the Hydro Eidolon until you reach a river. Here, the Hydro Eidolon will pass through the iron gates below, and we’ll need to climb up the pillar to the upper left and go through the opening.
Once you’re through, look down and you’ll see three torches in front of the Hydro Eidolon. Extinguish them and the Hydro Eidolon will pass through the gates to the other side.
Use the Four-Leaf Sigil above to fly up then continue north until you find the Hydro Eidolon next to the gates, then keep following the Hydro Eidolon.
You’ll come across a Hilichurl Camp half way. Defeat the Hilichurls to unlock the chest, then continue following the Hydro Eidolon.
Finally we’ll arrive at a Platform. The Hydro Eidolon will activate the Choo-Choo Cart nearby, board it and leave this cave to head towards the destination.
Once you’re at the destination, the Hydro Eidolon will come off the Cart and unlock the seal on the Streaming Projector in front.
The Third Hydro Eidolon
Look west and below by the second Streaming Projector. Use a Dendro character or pick up the Dendrograna nearby to attack the Clusterleaf of Cultivation
Use the Four-Leaf Sigil to get across to the third Hydro Eidolon (the seal here was broken while finishing the second Streaming Projector puzzle).
Follow the Hydro Eidolon forward until it stops to signal us by a corner. Here you’ll find Scattered Yet Well-Preserved Pages (IV), read it and continue following the Hydro Eidolon. You’ll see two Hydro Monuments – use a Hydro character to activate them.
Approach the Hydro Eidolon and ask it to help. It will move past the gate and activate the third Hydro Monument that is out of reach on the other side. This will unlock the chest next to us.
Collect the chest and keep following the Hydro Eidolon. We’ll run into a Hilichurl ambush half way. Defeat them to collect a Common Chest.
Keep following the Hydro Eidolon until you see three Elemental Monuments. Here we need the Hydro Eidolon to check on the Hydro Monument while we light the Cryo and Pyro Monuments to lower the water level.
Keep following the Hydro Eidolon past the archway until you arrive at the Choo-Choo Cart Platform. Ride the Cart to the destination.
Once you’re at the destination, the Hydro Eidolon will come off the Choo-Choo Cart and unlock the seal on the Streaming Projector in front.
The Fourth Hydro Eidolon
Look northeast from the third Streaming Projector to find the final sealed Streaming Projector. You’ll find the Scattered Yet Well-Preserved Pages (II) inside the chest next to it, give it a read.
Look down along the rail tracks to your right side. You’ll spot a Hydro Eidolon surrounded by Hilichurls. Descend and rescue it from the Hilichurls to start following it.
While following the Hydro Eidolon, clear out the monsters that spawn to obtain a Common Chest.
Grab the chest then keep following the Hydro Eidolon. Activate the Choo-Choo Cart nearby to depart the cave and head towards the destination.
After reaching your destination, the Hydro Eidolon will come off the Choo-Choo Cart and unlock the seal on the Streaming Projector in front. At this point, you would have unlocked all four Streaming Projectors in front of the mural.
Restore the Mural
After the cutscene, approach any one of the Streaming Projectors and interact with it to enter the mural. Then, follow the route in the picture below to collect all four fragments.
Once you have al of them, go to the four locations in the picture to install the fragments. The game will automatically select the correct fragment to use – all we need to do is approach and interact to install.
Once the mural is restored, a cutscene will trigger. This concludes everything for this quest, and you’ll gain another Luxurious Chest at the end.
