Cooking Food (Hunting)

If you kill wild animals, such as Wolves, you can use your Hunting Knife on the dead animal to retrieve a raw meat carcass (equip the Hunting Knife and “attack” the dead animal).

Make a Camp Fire, and put some burnable material (large sticks for example) into it’s inventory.

Make a Campfire Stove and put it above the Campfire. Point at the Campfire Stove, and put the raw meat carcass into it’s inventory. It will appear hanging on the Campfire Stove.

So long as you have some matches in your own inventory you can then ignite the fire. Point at the Camp Fire and press “E” (and again to extinguish the Camp Fire). It will burn so long as it has material in it’s inventory (which will burn down over time).

While the Campfire is burning, and the meat carcass is hanging above it, the meat carcass will cook. It has three states:

StateImpact
RawYou can eat it and it will reduce your hunger a little, but you will suffer from food poisoning for a while. You can see how bad the poisoning is, and how long it will last, on your character sheet in your journal.
CookedIdeal for you to eat and store.
BurntYou can eat burnt food to reduce hunger, but it doesn’t help much.

A meat carcass provides four good meals.

Drinking Water

You can collect water using a water container (like a water bottle) by standing in fresh water (not sea water), equipping the bottle and using it. This will fill it up with Unsafe water.

To make it safe for drinking, you need to boil it.

Make a Campfire and Campfire Stove as above. But instead of the meat carcass, put a Cooking Pot and the Unsafe bottle of water in the Campfire Stove’s inventory.

With the Campfire lit, cook (boil…) the water until it is Safe. It can now be drunk up to four times, re-hydrating you.

If you drink Unsafe water, you will re-hydrate a little, but you will also get poisoning that will damage you over a period of time. See your character page in your Journal to see how much poison damage you are taking, and for how long.
