Quick Tips

  • Use grenades once you pop shields if, the opportunity opens.
  • Also learn each weapon in weapon drills so you can fully understand how each weapon works, also stay away from plasma pistol and plasma carbine both utterly useless atm.
  • Dont aim for the head if your using the assault rifle since the ar does no head multiplier damage.
  • Also practice the movement system like use slide jump more often and practice jump shot spreads with the assault rifle.
  • Practice your aim play tactical slayer (swat) if you wanna practice precision shots or utilise academy against bots and use weapon drills mode.

General Tips

Halo is a weird game, if you know what you’re doing you can kill people just as quick as you can in cod or battlefield. try to learn the weapon spawns on the maps.

Your best friends will always be the precision weapons, Battle Rifle, Bandit (dmr), Bandit evo (scoped version), Sidekick pistol, sometimes the commando if nothing else is around you. i tend to tap fire the commando in quick succession then stopping for a brief moment if the crosshair spreads too much.

With these weapons you can aim for any part of an enemy player until their shields burst which will be very apparent when it happens im sure youve seen it already. at which point you wanna aim for the head. This state is called “one shot” in this state you are 1 shot from death to any precision (the weapons i listed above) there are a lot more weapons that will finish you with a 1 shot but those are the main 4 i recommend getting used to since these are the most scattered on the maps.

Another thing I highly recommend is lower sensitivity. Halo is a precision shoot not a twitch shooter like call of duty. reaction time can only do so much for you in this game. your aim and ability to consistently stay on target is far more importand than how quickly you snap to someone. slower sensitivity will allow you to track someone far easier in a gun fight.

I myself am on 800DPI and 1.8 sensitivity this allowed me to do a full 540 degree rotation from the left side of my mouse mat to the other (360 and a 180) i use that measurement for every game i play to keep my aim consistent regardless of the game im playing.

Another tip is during a fight when you finally get your sensitivity down aim with A&D. it sounds weird i know. halo is about strafing in combat. you’ll find yourself only doing small corrections with the mouse but the majority of your aiming is coming from when you and your opponent are strafe battling each other with A&D.

Set yourself up against bots and work your way up through their difficulties until you’re beating them consistently. i would try FFA since that will keep you on your toes more during the learning period against the bots.

A lot of people aren’t very sympathetic when it comes to learning this game and will make you feel bad because they’ve been playing for 20 years and understand it so cant get it through their heads when someone new doesn’t understand it. trust me i know its a weird game at first its my favorite franchise of all time and i love it but i play a lot of shooters and i know halo is a daunting one to get the hang of.
