This guide will detail how to beat the final 15 bosses of Journey. Note that as this is a quick write-up, please ignore the crappy lay-out.
Guide to Beat the Last Bosses in Journey
Mosura Wind Breath, Grace of Rockfleet, Tai Ling Dragon Dance, Villano Mad Genius (great healer), Arthur Frost Blade (great in control deck), Gremory Night Child (excellent in stall decks), Amaterasu post-buff, Jormun post-buff, Ogrok post-buff (Ogrok only if all else fails).
- Recommended might: 53940
- Rewards: 67 epics, 20425 gold
- Boss: Dita the Traitor
- HP: 2500
- Start of turn: Summons Water Elemental 183/427
- Enemy appears: Deals 300 dmg to the enemy Warlord
- Deck Strength: Lvl 22, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Morgan, the Sea Tusk; Poison Flos; Goliath; Void Jewel; Groot, Silent Guardian; Mr. Flap; Draggara; Scrap, the King of Garbage
I call this boss the f2p (free to play)-killer. Whomever designed this one should be banished to hell for eternity. This boss will make you kill yourself, literally.
You take 300 damage for every unit you play. You play Hoodoo and his Totem, you take 600 damage. Play Dead Lord and 3 zombies, that’s 1200 damage in your WL’s face.
If you somehow manage to tank that damage, you will face a 183 attack, 427 hp Seahorse every turn which spawns 4 freeze runes (aka in 3 turns your entire board is covered in runes).
If that’s not bad enough, she also has one of the meanest decks in the entire journey. Flap can’t be given Miss or frozen, Scrap just hits your WL no matter what. Morgan kills your melee. Groot to counter Reflect tactics, Flos to just spam the board.
Recommended strategy (best option)
- Heroes required: Terror from Below, Angelia the Lightbringer, Vanakauri, Life Palace, Alexandria
- Ogre with at least 700 hp.
- Play Terror first, this will freeze anything she plays. Then Life Palace to keep your hp up. Vanakauri third across enemy Draggara.
- Angelia next to block the nasties and to keep your WL shielded.
- Alexandria as a contingency plan to stay alive.
Alternative (my personal solution)
- Heroes required: Charon, Soul Catcher, Life Palace, Vanakauri, any stall card (see above strategy or below picture).
- Ogre with at least 1030 hp.
- Strategy is the same as above, open with Charon at the bottom for shields, then Life Palace or Vana. Keep Vana shielded and stall as you see fit to stay alive.
- Vana goes across enemy Draggara.
Second alternative (requires more hp)
Grace of Rockfleet, any multi-attacker (Fury/Dominus/Scrap), bunch of healers. Basically drop the multi-attacker first, hope it gets ignored, kill stuff with Grace to buff the multi-attacker, use heals to stay alive. Note that King Taurus is a good solution to stay alive with this strategy.
Sector 9, level 26
- Recommended might: 51700
- Rewards: 68 epics, 20835 gold
- Boss: Unsightly Severus
- HP: 2600
- Attacked: Gives 2 random enemies Miss for 1 turn
- Enemy attacked: Deals 70 dmg to adjacent enemies
- Deck Strength: Lvl 21, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Maeve; Scrap, the King of Garbage; Snake, the Lizard Prince; Cabas, Wasteland Lord; Groot, Silent Guardian; Tengu, Ravencrest; Sir Lancelot; Draggara
This boss is a copy of 9-14, just a lot more hp and higher levels. After Dita this should be easy.
I let TNT death runes do the work, Justia and All to counter his Miss. Arioch for stalling, he doesn’t need to deal damage. The rest is just your regular silence/transform options.
Snake, the Lizard Prince is also a nice replacement for Arioch as he can add more death runes.
Once the board is full of death runes it should be easy to win.
Alternative solution: reflect on enemy Draggara, not recommended but can work.
Sector 9, level 27
- Recommended might: 53940
- Rewards: 68 epics, 21245 gold
- Boss: Forgotten God
- HP: 2700
- Start of turn: Summons an Old God’s Servant 48/233
- HP is less than half: Gets the skill
- Start of turn: Gives +100 hp melee allies”
- Deck Strength: Lvl 22, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Ysh’Tmala, The Old God; Mr. Flap; Axe; Yorik, the Risen One; Madam Lo’Trix; Goliath; Hanako Lady Banshee; Dead Lord.
See 9-6, again just a much stronger version. The Yorik and Flap will really hurt here.
Blair is a great option to hand out Mental Shield to protect against Yorik and also eliminate the enemy Lo’Trix.
I went with an alternative design because of high level buildings.
Key is to stall so Arioch is again really good, the rest I just filled the board with a lot of summons and let Tinker’s Tesla + Caesar’s zap him to death.
If you can survive the Yorik, control deck should be able to handle this one too.
Sector 9, level 28
- Recommended might: 56180
- Rewards: 69 epics, 21655 gold
- Boss: Giggling Troglodyte
- HP: 2800
- Start of turn: Gives +20 atk to allies for each enemy
- Enemy attacked: Poisons them for 150 dmg
- Deck Strength: Lvl 23, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Ysh’Tmala, The Old God; Ball’Zt, the Warden; Dominus, the Swarm King; General Zor’Ma; Lady Medusa; Regardus Diplius; Disсordia; Hanako Lady Banshee
See 9-17. Dominus is the biggest threat here.
I forgot to take a picture but I used Frost to take out the Dominus, coupled with Life Palace and control deck (death rune spam again) this worked out well. Apep/Arioch are good for holding the frontline.
Sector 9, level 29
- Recommended might: 60660
- Rewards: 69 epics, 22065 gold
- Boss: Patrick the Famous
- HP: 2900
- Attacked: Poisons 200 dmg attacker
- Each 2nd turn: Summons a Sword in the Stone 0/24
- Deck Strength: Lvl 25, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Mizu, the Sea Foam; Anak, Princess Dragon; Maeve; Tortulus, the Wise One; Prince Nod; Morgan, the Sea Tusk; Snake, the Lizard Prince; Triton, The Bottom Herald
There are 2 big issues here, poison 200 is the obvious one. The less obvious one is the Snake handing out sevreal iinsta-kill runes when he dies. Therefore you must silence/transform the Snake or face the consequences. Reflect doesn’t work well anymore due to 2900 hp to chew through so Control deck is your best option here. Try and build up attack with Lo’Trix to deal big hits on the enemy WL, rather than chip damage.
I went with the same strategy as 2 bosses ago, but added some more mental shields.
Sector 9, level 30
- Recommended might: 58420
- Rewards: 69 epics, 22470 gold
- Boss: Hippocampus the Fast
- SPECIAL: the fight starts with your entire board covered in freeze runes
- HP: 3000
- Frozen enemy death: Deals 500 dmg to the enemy Warlord
- Start of turn: Summons 2 Freezing Runes
- Ally attacks: Gives 40 atk to a random ally
- Deck Strength: Lvl 24, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Hanako Lady Banshee; Ysh’Tmala, The Old God; Dandy Croc; Deep Maw; Void Jewel; Leader Nilen; Dead Lord; Apep, Aspect of Chaos
A freeze deck and to top it off you’ve got a full board of freeze runes to start and he summons more every turn and if he kills one of your frozen cards you eat 500 damage. Epic Mina is highly useful here as she’s the only card that can remove the runes. If you can tank the hits, you can use Reflect on Deep Maw. Use a lot of buildings and kill the Nilen and Void Jewel asap as they can break through the stall. Need Lo’Trix/Alexandria for cleanse.
Summoning makes you eat that 500 damage but if you’re here your WL should be able to tank that. Buildings do count as frozen enemies so watch out.
This boss looks really tough on paper but in reality he’s not so bad.
Tengu and Frost for initial damage control, then stalling with Arioch and Angelia worked out well. Note that my Angelia was weak meaning she couldn’t kill my Arioch. Ysh’t was there to keep Arioch alive from enemy poison or other damage.
Drogun and sudden death killed him eventually. Drogun is not necessary as sudden death alone can do the job. Do note you should save up the sudden death’s, don’t spend them each turn as it’ll take much longer.
Sector 9, level 31
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 70 epics, 22920 gold
- Boss: Lady Vanessa
- HP: 3100
- Enemy appears: Freezes a random enemy
- Start of turn: Deals 150 dmg to ranged enemies
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Ysh’Tmala, The Old God; Lady Medusa; Sheer-Shah; Mizu, the Sea Foam; Jörmun Grand; Hanako Lady Banshee; Shadow Shaa-Moona; Koschei the Immortal
Maxed out Shaa, Koschei, Sheer and Mizu hurts. Shielded Reflect would be my suggested strategy as a lot of heroes that ramp up quickly.
Here is my specific deck. Lots of Totems and shields from Charon/Life Palace. She nukes ranged so don’t bring Apollo. Amaterasu is a good replacement for Caesar’s.
Sector 9, level 32
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 70 epics, 23370 gold
- Boss: Gruff the Callous
- HP: 3200
- Kills an enemy with less than half hp
- End of turn: -130 atk to all enemies
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Draggara; Morgan, the Sea Tusk; Triton, The Bottom Herald; Poison Flos; Charon, Soul Catcher; Matriarch Eona; Morgan, the Sea Tusk; Loath, Spore Loser
See 9-1.
Similar deck as the last boss but can add Apollo now. I put Frost in to keep me alive and Mizu was excellent for stalling.
Sector 9, level 33
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 70 epics, 23820 gold
- Boss: Slippery Esh
- HP: 3300
- Attacked: Gives 2 random enemies Miss for 1 turn
- Enemy attacked: Deals 100 dmg to adjacent enemies
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Maeve; Scrap, the King of Garbage; Snake, the Lizard Prince; Cabas, Wasteland Lord; Groot, Silent Guardian; Tengu, Ravencrest; Sir Lancelot; Draggara
See 9-26.
Another one where control deck with death rune spam works well. Frost was again a lifesaver but Villano can replace her if needed.
Sector 9, level 34
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 70 epics, 24270 gold
- Boss: Heavy-Handed Bolo
- HP: 3400
- Ally appears: Gives them +150 hp
- Ally death: Gives +140 hp to allies
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Lady Medusa; Mr. Flap; Regardus Diplius; Deep Maw; Hanako Lady Banshee; Ysh’Tmala, The Old God; Madam Lo’Trix; Necro, Master Lich
Stall, stall, stall. High level Flap/Ysh on the enemy side means you’ll need Arioch and lots of hp buffs along with TNT to fill the backline with death runes. Justia was amazing here to keep the enemy Regardus from silencing Arioch. The rest is sudden death spam. Have Eostre/Groot for Deep Maw or removing Lo’Trix and her puppets. I put Evil Santa in to take care of summoned zombies from the Regardus.
Sector 9, level 35
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 70 epics, 24715 gold
- Boss: King Triton
- HP: 3500
- Attacked: Gets +450 hp
- Start of turn: Removes negative effects (except Silence) from allies
- End of turn: Silences a random enemy
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Triton, The Bottom Herald; Tortulus, the Wise One; Morgan, the Sea Tusk; Lady Medusa; Anak, Princess Dragon; Disсordia; Tengu, Ravencrest; Scrap, the King of Garbage
This boss looks like a copy of 9-20 but there are 2 differences:
- He can actually go over his starting hp
- He silences a random card every turn
Due to this, this boss is considered one of, if not the hardest boss in the journey. Maxed out Scrap and Triton also hurt a lot.
You will need reflect, a ton of silence, a lot of shields, a lot of cannon fodder, cleanse, … basically everything.
And you need the staying power to get past his healing in the end, as the boss will easily go over 10k hp.
A deck that can beat him is: Ogre, Blair, Alexandria, Lo’Trix, Eostre, Nilen, Dead Lord, Koschei (to kill the boss) and Snake.
Need a lot of luck with the random silence.
Another option is Order deck with Legion, Aphrodite and Shao Lin. Shao can make your cards immune to silence so 1 less thing to worry about while Legion buffs your deck and Aphrodite hits the boss with her skill. Eostre, Blair, Alexandria and some more mental shield/flight (Griffius/Angelia) should round out the deck.
- Start the fight with a summoner => Lo’Trix or Nilen are ideal as otherwise the random silence will mess you up.
Cheap alternative is shielded reflect though it is very luck based but it makes the fight so much faster. Order deck is way more consistent but takes much longer. Reflect can be restarted in a matter of minutes so it’s actually rather fast.
Sector 9, level 36
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 71 epics, 25210 gold
- Boss: Narga the Skilled
- HP: 3600
- Enemy Poison triggered: Gives them -110 atk
- Start of turn: Poison 200 dmg all enemies
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Queen Ananta; Coba, Temple Keeper; Melia, Forest’s Daughter; Anak, Princess Dragon; Poison Flos; Toxic Mantas; Tengu, Ravencrest; Groot, Silent Guardian
Yikes, that’s some serious poison.
Madam Lo’Trix is a must here, otherwise you WILL die.
I went with a heavy immune/silence deck and lots of hp buffs.
Triton was super helpful as he can silence the Coba preventing him from playing the massive on death summon.
Note: I kept the cell behind Triton empty on purpose, this way Lo’Trix could spawn a puppet there every turn.
Sector 9, level 37
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 71 epics, 25705 gold
- Boss: Master of Ceremonies Lau
- HP: 3700
- Flight
- End of turn: Heals for 1500 hp
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Vanakauri; Cernun, Archdruid; Tortulus, the Wise One; Morgen Von Stern; Alexandria; Anak, Princess Dragon; King Taurus; Alexandria
Need heavy silence on this one as your melees are pretty useless on 3.7k hp, healing for 1500 and Flight.
Control deck + a ton of silence clears this one (use literally all Legendaries with Silence)
This boss is actually really easy. Just bring every form of silence/transform and one or two things to deal damage.
The main issue is the two reflect totems from Vana and Cernun.
Lo’Trix for cleansing, Alexandria to keep my hp up and enough silence/transform to have Justia buff up the backline. Keep Silence/Transform ready for the Totems. Once TNT fills the board, you should only need to worry about Cernun. I added Tinker for some extra damage, other melees should have Flight or silence/transform. As you can see I only ran 2 melee.
Sector 9, level 38
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 71 epics, 26200 gold
- Boss: Faithful Guard Marvin
- HP: 3800
- Ally appears: Gives them Pierce 100 dmg
- Ally Pierce triggered: Deals 300 dmg to the enemy Warlord
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Triton, The Bottom Herald; Myrddin Caer; Scrap, the King of Garbage; Snake, the Lizard Prince; Tortulus, the Wise One; Mi the Ten-Tailed Fox; Tengu, Ravencrest; Hoodoo
Another pierce boss but this time with way more WL damage so you need a lot of extra healing. Pierce 100 means you need to look at some beefy ranged. The ones from Control deck go well but Mina Hellsing is also a great option. Again, lots of silence is needed.
I went with a control variant using Snake and TNT to spam runes as usual. Arioch was invaluable to stall along with Snake. Try and put cards in different lanes to avoid the 300 pierce damage.
Also note that Scrap has his own pierce so Scrap will deal 600 WL damage on top of his regular damage if he can pierce. PAIN
Sector 9, level 39
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 71 epics, 26695 gold
- Boss: Savior’s Favorite
- HP: 3900
- Start of turn: Gives +30 atk to allies for each enemy
- Enemy attacked: Poisons them for 250 dmg
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Ysh’Tmala, The Old God; Ball’Zt, the Warden; Dominus, the Swarm King; General Zor’Ma; Lady Medusa; Regardus Diplius; Disсordia; Hanako Lady Banshee
Another copy-paste boss, compared to what you’ve faced before this is rather easy. Cleanse the poison and just wear him down with the control deck. A high level multi-attacking Scrap (Charon extra attack rune) can also deal some serious damage to him.
I went with shield spam and Apep/Angelia for stalling along with the usual death rune spam.
Life Palace prevented Apep from being nuked by my own Angelia’s.
Fun note: the Dominus had around 20 attacks, gotta love Flight.
Sector 9, level 40
- Recommended might: 62900
- Rewards: 71 epics, 27190 gold
- Boss: Talia the Savior
- HP: 4000
- Start of turn: Summons Water Elemental 183/427
- Ally Water Elemental death: Kills a random enemy
- Enemy death: Heals for 600 hp
- Deck Strength: Lvl 26, Rb 5
Deck Monsters: Mizu, the Sea Foam; Hanako Lady Banshee; Goliath; Poison Flos; Groot, Silent Guardian; Void Jewel; Lady Medusa; Scrap, the King of Garbage
Final boss and it’s a mean one. Obviously avoid the Elementals as much as you can or Transform them (Madam Agony + something like Goliath or Eostre can work). A lot of Mental Shield helps to counter the kill skill. Heavy silence/stalling is needed obviously.
The key to beating Talia is having one hero go super-saiyan on her. This means heroes that can ramp up quickly.
Candidates are: Diana (recommended for f2p or people who don’t have a lot of strong heroes), Scrap, Madam Agony. Alternatives can be Koschei or Legion but not recommended.
Unlike the other bosses where it depends on the situation what you should play, this set-up required a specific play order. The reasoning is mentioned in italics.
Note that Charon at level 21 will make this significantly easier as he can then survive a hit from a seahorse.
Turn 1: activate Shaman spikes and play Charon on the +12 attack Pentagram at the bottom.
Spikes will help damage the enemy Medusa/Scrap so Diana can kill them easier. Charon’s location helps him shield as many as possible and also allows a Shaman totem to be placed in front of him.
Talia’s turn 1, she must play Medusa or Scrap in any lane except Charon’s.
Turn 2: play Diana across the Medusa or Scrap, Diana ideally on a 2x rune.
Medusa will freeze your Diana but that’s ok, you’re not going for the killing blow yet)
Turn 3: Activate both the Shaman Totems and then make sure your WL survives and that Diana/Totems are shielded as best as you can. If they spawn near each other, Amaterasu is the best play. Otherwise likely Angelia (try not to have her attacks so she doesn’t wipe your totems) or Life Palace.
If Talia plays Mizu, silence the Mizu or she’ll kill all of the seahorses and that will be game over.
Diana must be shielded as by now the Seahorses will be numerous. This is priority N°1.
Turn 4: Disсordia anywhere and Diana should rampage through for a one-two punch.
With Scrap/Koschei the same strategy applies, Scrap should be at least level 18 reborn 3.
Diana is the fastest to ramp so best to use her.
A strong Vixen is also an option as he doesn’t need to attack cards (and therefore no enemy kill skill.
Alternative solution (credit to Raka for finding this one, very creative)
Eostre for set-up along with Charon, stall with Serket and Eostre/Angelia/LP.
Have Goliath/Eostre for the zaps, then transform the entire board and have fun.
Second alternative
This one relies on using Mosura and Blair together, Mosura with constant shields and ramping up damage through Grace while gaining multiple attacks from Charon. It’s a bit RNG with the enemy kill skill but a more straightforward solution, though a little heavier on investment in the heroes.
