Moonstone Island – Speedrunning Guide (Any%)

Guide to Speedrunning

Skip tutorial. Almost always picking up forage on ground as see it.

Run Right from Crash: (D1)

  • Explore top right moonstone island for moonstone, then head into beach area for moonstone.
  • Ideally get all 3 moonstones from main island.
  • Pickup any forage found on way.

D2:

  • Take all forage reasonably close.
  • Spam through dialog.
  • Talk to ossano for sell crate recipe, leave.
  • Fibre on way to zed (9) craft balloon.
  • Talk zed for quest trigger.
  • Main island south talisman arch (meditate).
  • Collect warp whistle.
  • Path to main island dungeon via beach.
  • Dungeon:
    • Up.
    • Teleport puzzle right-left-left (get chest).
    • Tame 1st earth spirit you fight (if its bad, reset, some base stats are really bad).
    • Capacibee to science centre, upgrade focus, feed cattail to earth spirit.
    • Finish dungeon, get boss chest.
  • Main island north talisman (meditate) (upgrade rage) (path right and up of spa,balloon hop the cliffs)
  • Levelups for earth spirit want rounded stats, speed 5 good enough, armour 4-5, power 6 (aiming for well rounded spirit to do damage and bash).
  • Go fly out find islands with moonstones/talismans (meditates unless anything needs removing from earth spirit early on, eg bite) (recommend somewhat looping around 1st/2nd ring, dungeons are good for moonstone chances + xp, investigate any teleporters) spare loose time before pass out use for chopping trees.

D3-D5:

(Or when done) (return when done, can warp whistle to path back easier to check other side of island).

  • Daily buff spirit.
  • Moonstones, need 12 for enchanter and glider.
  • Return after 12.
  • Full clearing dungeon chests can be annoying, convinient chests are fine.
  • Day of return, place tent just above town (by steps above tavern), move bed, get a chest placed by door, bed placed sideways above door (make sure room to path, and room for 4-5 sprinklers of crops below).
  • Find mine nearby (or while exploring) 10 copper ore for quest, 9 iron ore (or bar equivlent), make sure have wood and stone, passout in mine.

D6:

  • Get any extra ore needed.
  • Turn in spirit research + quest at zed.
  • Ferra turn in 10 copper (sell) , sell all gems.
  • Rowan buy 30 cattail seeds, plant (these are to get spirit xp for taming skills) [check costs to see how much ore can buy] (buy up to total functional ore of 18).
  • Place 2nd chest outside for donations (place a stonefruit and cattail in there).

Remainder of Spring:

  • Smelt ore, moonstone bars while sleeping.
  • Harvest cattails, feed to spirit at end of season (increase tame chance, lvl 10 taming, spirit farmer).

Summer

Main Goals: Exploring for temples, find dark islands, more moonstones (8), ribbite.

D1+:

  • Chop trees/get stone for spirit barn.
  • D1 craft sell crate (if not already) ship a concoction (should have got some earlier).
  • Start flying out to edge, scouting out for the 4 temples.
  • Flying in zigzag ish pattern to cover more area, can guesswork remaining temples from existing ones by which corners they in, make sure to get the temple icon appearing on map for later.
  • Low level poison island (ideally found usable one earlier, go back there) find and tame a ribbite
  • General get talismans which are convinient (meditates, cleanses to remove most of ribbites deck, eg tackles, bite, bashes (as weak), aiming for poison cards + accerates eventually) (ribbite’s lvl ups are pumping health and armour only, we want to be unbashable).
  • Dark islands when found, looking for wingfruit, chop fire island trees for higher wood drops and ash (electric islands also high drop rate wood) (min 3 wingfruit).
  • When dark islands found, go home, ideally no more than 1 temple missing.
  • Sleep, build spirit barn asap.
  • Earth spirit and ribbite one after another in spirit barn, need 2 clay, 1 poison.
  • Put any items needed for temples in donation chest (4 moonstones, 1 random concoction, 1 clay, 1 poison).
  • Any other random concoctions drink for glass bottles (need 2-3).
  • Buy/mine ore to smelt, start of fall total bars (donation + sprinklers) (5-6 bars of each Fe, Cu).

Fall

Fishing, remaining temples, psychic storm catch spirit, crop lvling.

D1-2:

  • Place 2nd spirit stall in barn, put food in.
  • Out explore, force psychic storm on tame level island (tame one).
  • Fish (jewelfish, cinderfish) cinderfish fish stood on a bridge no damage.
  • Willowwisp seeds (d3 sell to botanist, d4 buy from rowan up to 32/40 for sprinklers).
  • Catch armbot, random water spirit.
  • Remaining temples (can overrun).
  • Talismans (meditates with enough cleanses to clean decks up).

D3+:

  • Finish off exploration.
  • Harvest willowwisps.
  • Spirit barn things (1 sea glass, 1 spark).
  • Make sure have all donations or crafting components for.
  • Spare money after buying seeds can go into ore (turn in spirit research 1st).
  • Release water spirit when done, give zed armbot when done.
  • Craft all donation items have in chest.
  • End of fall, feed half willowwisps to psychic, half to ribbite, only want card draw and energy on psychic, want enough poison apply cards and as many accellerate cards as possible on ribbite.

Winter

  • Realease earth spirit/in barn.
  • Daily buff psychic and ribbite.
  • Collect all donatables, debuff concoctions.
  • Start winter temple (unless another temple on way).
  • Exit temples via warp whistle back to main island for pathing to next, or save file, reload from save warp outside.
  • Debuff concoctions for final boss, winter boss wingfruit.
  • If warp whistle used again passout via teleporter spam.

Spirit Build

  • Ribbite: some poison debuffs + accelerates, remove other cards.
  • Psychic: card draw and energy draw, remove other cards.

Both focus purely on armour + health, 18 armour isnt going to be easily bashed through.

Earth spirit for early/midgame: all round stats, building primarily around Focus+ and tackle, with flurry of blows good later, etc (not used that much later on).

40 willowisp seeds costs 1800, can spend rest of money on ore in fall, this is equiv to 4.5 iron ore.

Notes

Make sure pick all remaining iron up (if dont have extra money) while exploring in fall (mines not on main island bcs placement of everything not convenient to get to a mine).

Minimum before fall (iron,copper):

  • 8 copper bars + 10 ore (enchanter 3, ferra 10 ore,5 sprinklers), then need 4 more bars after
  • 14 iron bars (enchanter 3, glider 3, 5 sprinklers,3 barn) (do 17 and do ferra quest?)

Then after need 11 bars (3 for ferra quest, SELL, ideally these are also before).

  • Collect capacibee when give zed armbot, do whenever do rest of selling/buying (then do spark with capacibee).
  • Send armbot to science centre instead of carrying around.
  • Feed spirits midfall (skip cattails) pick stuff up from zed give armbot.
  • Capacibee can do earlier.
  • If pick up low lvl water can do earlier.
  • Crush spam makes concoction not useful, skip out entirely (3 less copper, iron after summer, only 1 earth poop).
