You need to use a persona with higher agility. Agility determines the battle order. You can also use accessories that increase your agility to boost it.

The persona you have equipped determines your stats. So when you first start a battle, the agility of your currently equipped persona is used to determine MC’s battle order.

So if you always want MC to go first, check the stats screen in the menu and look at your other members agility stat. Then equip a persona who has higher than all of theirs.

Also, here is a full break down of what the persona stats actually do in game:

• Strength – Affects physical attack damage dealt (higher = more damage).
• Magic – Affects magical attack damage dealt (higher = more damage).
• Endurance – Affects both physical and magical damage taken (higher reduces damage taken).
• Agility – Affects accuracy and evasion and turn order.
• Luck – Affects chances of dealing or taking critical damage.
