Ragnarok: The New World – Comprehensive Priest Guide

Comprehensive Priest Guide

This guide focuses primarily on Full Support (FS) Priest in PvP, while many of the recommendations also apply to hybrid support, offensive, and PvE builds.

Rather than acting as a pure heal bot, an optimized Priest should provide strong support while contributing consistent pressure through Magnus Exorcismus (ME) and using Signum Crucis (or Judex, depending on the build) whenever healing is not immediately required.

Why Not Pure Full Support?

PvP healing is heavily reduced:

  • Healing is reduced by 60% in PvP.
  • Heal and Sanctuary do not scale as aggressively as optimized DPS builds.

At high investment levels, dedicated DPS characters can eventually outpace even the strongest healing output.

Instead of continuously casting Heal when the party is already stable, use Magnus Exorcismus whenever its cooldown is available. Since Magnus continues dealing damage after being cast, you can immediately return to healing, buffing, or repositioning with minimal impact on your support uptime.

Why Not Full Offensive?

Most Priest damage comes from Magnus Exorcismus, not Judex.

Magnus has several limitations:

  • It can be removed by Ganbantein.
  • Wizard skills, especially Chain Lightning, deal instant damage that cannot be removed and can quickly reach the backline.

In addition, Priest progression—including passives, Ultimate Skill, enchants, and other upgrades—is heavily focused on healing rather than damage.

A full offensive build is viable, but a hybrid support build generally provides better overall performance.

Core Mechanics

Magnus Exorcismus

Magnus Exorcismus is one of the Priest’s strongest and most overlooked abilities.

Advantages:

  • Cast once and continue healing, buffing, or repositioning while it deals damage.
  • Provides constant AoE pressure without interrupting your support rotation.
  • Becomes even stronger when paired with the Level 55 Gear Special Skill that roots enemies for 2 seconds.

Always prioritize casting Magnus whenever your team is stable instead of using unnecessary Heal casts.

Signum Crucis

Signum Crucis is frequently underestimated.

Benefits:

  • Reduces enemy Magic Defense by approximately 30%.
  • Significantly increases Magnus Exorcismus damage.
  • Greatly improves your team’s magic damage output.

Do not rely on Auto Cast.

Refresh it manually every 7 seconds for maximum uptime.

Shield Equipment

Priests naturally become one of the tankiest classes through shield cards.

Useful options include:

  • Thara Frog for PvP
  • Sting against magic damage
  • Khalitzburg for Demon-heavy PvE
  • Golden Thief Bug (GTB) and Maya for specialized situations

Skill Builds

First Job – General Support

  • Heal Lv.10
  • Blessing Lv.10
  • Angelus Lv.10
  • Increase AGI Lv.5
  • Kyrie Lv.5

First Job – Magic Support

  • Heal Lv.10
  • Blessing Lv.10
  • Holy Light Lv.5
  • Demon Bane Lv.5

MVP Healing Tip

Disable Kyrie on Auto.

Taking controlled damage creates more opportunities to heal during MVP encounters, increasing your overall healing contribution.

When safe, standing inside predictable boss AoE attacks can also provide additional healing opportunities.

Second Job – Hybrid PvP

  • Turn Undead Lv.5
  • Magnus Exorcismus Lv.10
  • Sanctuary Lv.10
  • Resurrection Lv.4
  • Impositio Manus Lv.5
  • Suffragium Lv.3
  • Recovery Lv.1
  • Gloria Lv.2

Second Job – PvE Support

  • Sanctuary Lv.10
  • Resurrection Lv.4
  • Aspersio Lv.3
  • Suffragium Lv.3
  • Impositio Manus Lv.5
  • Gloria Lv.5
  • Recovery Lv.1
  • Turn Undead Lv.5

Third Job (Requires Further Testing)

Recommended allocation:

  • Basilica Lv.10
  • Assumptio Lv.5
  • Coluseo Heal Lv.5
  • Coluseo Heal Passive Lv.10

Meditatio

During CBT, Meditatio appeared to increase healing.

Current database information indicates it may only reduce SP consumption.

If this is accurate, consider skipping Meditatio and investing in Judex Lv.10 as a filler skill between support casts.

Stats

Prioritize DEX until reaching instant cast.

After achieving instant cast, balance additional stat investment between INT and VIT.

Gear Special Skills

Priority

Level 55

  • Magnus Root (2-second root)

Level 70

  • Overheal Shield

Flexible Third Slot

Choose based on your build:

  • Healing %
  • Sanctuary Cooldown Reduction
  • Holy Damage Blind

Rune Engine

The Rune Engine is highly RNG-dependent.

Completing rune sets provides significantly more value than chasing individual effects.

Priority

  1. Complete the Yellow Set (Healing)
  2. Complete the Brown Set (Survivability)

Valuable Rune Effects

  • Heal grants temporary Max HP
  • Damage reduction above 80% HP
  • Damage reduction while HP decreases
  • Random debuff removal
  • Increased healing chance
  • Healing increases ally ATK
  • Healing Nova / Burst Healing Nova
  • Shield at low HP
  • Damage reduction after heavy hits
  • Movement Speed outside combat

One of the strongest individual effects is:

  • Nearby allies receive 8% Physical and Magic Damage Reduction

Recommended Pets

  • Baby Garm (Freeze)
  • Alice (Tankiness)
  • Savage (Tankiness)

The fourth pet slot is flexible.

Card Recommendations

Weapon

Dedicated support weapon cards provide limited value.

For hybrid support builds focused on Magnus Exorcismus:

  • Hydra
  • Skeleton Worker
  • Fire Ghost

During early progression, Drops cards are also effective because additional MATK improves both healing and Magnus damage.

Gameplay Tips

An effective Priest constantly evaluates the battlefield instead of repeatedly casting Heal.

Always consider:

  • Does the target actually need healing?
  • Should Magnus Exorcismus be active?
  • Does Signum Crucis need to be refreshed?
  • Is it time to rebuff allies?
  • Can you safely reposition for better support?

Maintaining constant spell uptime and choosing the highest-impact action at any given moment is what separates an average Priest from an exceptional one.
