Negative Money Run Strategy Guide
Observed and inspired by AI I believe it is a viable strategy in current version for unstoppable space expansion.
Once you purchase enough orgs and arguments for your councilors you don’t need money anyone in this game. Indeed there are money maintenance cost for most space asset like ships and habs.
Nonetheless you don’t need money to build them. Furthermore, there is no penalties for not having enough money to run. Even you are in -1M debt your space asset are 100% functional when you have enough other space resource like water, volatiles and fissile. The only drawback of running negative money is you suffer penalty “target has insufficient funding” from hostile takeover action which AI barely do it.
Without caring about money you can expand in space unlimitedly – unlimited bases, resources, fleets, MCs, and research. Also saving more IP for miltech, ground MCs, army or nukes.
The Consequences of Running a Money Deficit are:
- Can’t boost Hostile Takeover.
- Can’t buy (or re-equip) certain orgs or buy implants.
- Penalty to defending HT.
- No direct investment.
- Random defection event plus other event options (debris cleanup, etc.)
- No Public Campaign boosting.
- No sending out of Habs or probes.
you also get locked out of a lot of orgs
It took a few years but I am cash positive again, and my debt at its height was 160k. And now its almost double digits.
Another problem with negative money is the Climate Change events will pop and you can’t do anything about them. These events depending on location will effectively delete months of GDP growth, cause unrest and other issues that have to be cleaned up
