Welcome

Welcome to THE FINALS, wanderer. Today I am going to tell you exactly what to expect from the game that you just downloaded. In a moment you will learn if you made the greatest mistake of your life, but this Guide might be the last chance to turn around and leave. Come with me, and decide for yourself.

Overview

THE FINALS is a game that differs from any other shooter you played before. It’s not only the game mechanics, but also the playstyles, game modes etc.

TL;DR

  • Battlefield-like shooting
  • Very Dynamic
  • Very fast
  • Intense
  • Outstanding game mode
  • Fully destructible maps (all buildings)
  • Customizable characters
  • Various playstyles

THE FINALS

Let’s start with the concept. In THE FINALS you are placed on an arena in teams of 3. All of the objectives are connected to MONEY which during the round will play the role of points for your team. Team with the most money wins.

Each player chooses one of three classes for each round. The classes are : Light, Medium and Heavy. Each account can have up to 6 pre-customised characters. You can edit the loadout and cosmetics of each of those at any time, as long as you’re not in a match.

  • Each character has a unique gadget, unique utilities and some unique weapons.
  • Each character can equip basic grenades – flashbang, goo, incendiary and frag.
  • Each character is fully customizable, and each class uses the same cosmetics.
  • Weapons use the same charms and stickers, but separate skins.

The whole gameplay is quick. You need good reflexes, and be quick with your mouse+keyboard. In this game, you’re constantly on the run. You’re rushing somewhere, jumping and flying.

There is also goo. It’s worth mentioning because it plays a crutial role in most rounds. Goo is produced by Goo Grenades and Goo Gun. Goo is essentially a hard mass that is produced in blobs. Goo gun can shape it in different ways, Goo grenades create walls like this:

Light and Heavy have some options for melee weapons. In the game you can roam with a sword, sneak with a knife or snipe your enemies from above. You need to be prepared for everything, because every player plays differently.

If you’re playing with friends, you won. Teamwork is a key here, because you won’t solo 3v1 so easily. This game ain’t easy

Classes

First unique gadget and two weapons for each class are generic. The rest is to buy for the in-game-currency, that you get for playing and only for playing.

Light

Light class is simple to understand. High movement speed, low health. Quick or precise weapons. This is the class that’s going to run around with a sword, knife or a silenced pistol. Light will also have a sniper rifle. The movement is very hard, because in order to stay alive you need to run almost constantly. You’re the only one here that can get literally oneshoted in seconds.

Unique Gadgets

  • Grappling hook
  • Evasive dash
  • Cloaking device (invisibility)

Common playstyles

  • Roamer
  • Sneak
  • Sniper
  • Ranger

Weapons

  • Silenced machine pistol
  • Light Sniper Rifle
  • Dagger
  • Sword
  • Sawed-off double barrel shotgun
  • Semi-automatic battle rifle
  • Silenced pistol
  • Submachinegun
  • Throwing knives

Medium

Medium is a very interesting class. It may play as support or dps. Decent weapons like rifles or revolver are really nice to get into the game. Honestly, I would advise every new player to play couple first games with this class. It’s very easy to understand and use, at the same time being useful for your team. A gamechanger here is a Defibrillator, which can revive teammates instantly.

Unique Gadgets

  • Healing gun (exactly like TF2 or Mercy from overwatch)
  • Guardian turret
  • Recon senses (enemy detection)

Common playstyles

  • Support
  • DPS
  • Anchor

Weapons

  • AKM
  • Revolver <3
  • Scar-like assault rifle
  • Lever-action rifle
  • Pump-action grenade launcher
  • Riot Shield

Heavy

Heavy is probably the hardest in the game. Heavy is slow, has lotta life and very, very powerful weapons. It’s the class responsible for tanking, demolishion and most destruction.

Unique Gadgets

  • Charge’n’slam (run and destroy everything on your way)
  • Goo Gun
  • Protective shield

Common playstyles

  • Tank
  • Breacher
  • DPS

Weapons

  • LMG
  • Sledgehammer
  • Flamethrower
  • Pan magazine-fed LMG
  • Grenade launcher
  • Automatic shotgun

Game Modes

Quick Cash

In this game mode 3 teams of 3 players are placed on a map. First a vault with $10 000 is opened. The $10 000 is in a form of a box which one of the teammates have to carry with them. It’s not possible to use any weapons while you hold it.

The team which manages to get the money now needs to transport it into cashout. When they do, they have to wait till the cashout is finished. During that period, other teams can try to steal the cashout.

First team to get $20 000 wins.

Bank It

Here, 4 teams of 3 people will participate in a bigger competition. Now every elimination will give you additional money. The money is on the living player, you do not have to carry anything. When someone kills you, they can collect your money, as well as the bounty fort the elimination.

Cashouts work similarily, but now every player can deposit their money to the machine.

Tournament Mode

Tournament mode is more challenging and time-consuming. You can play ranked or unranked. 24 teams of 3 play on separate arenas (4 teams on each). The game consists out of up to 4 rounds and the team winning the last round wins.

The whole tournament is made in a ladder tournament, so each team that doesn’t make it to top 2 in the round is eliminated from the whole tournament.

Here you can’t change your loadout. In quickplay you are bound to the class too, but you can easily change between loadout that you use currently and the one in reserve. Not in tournaments. The loadout can be changed only between the rounds.

Respawning and Dying

Every teammate can revive their fellow contestants, but it takes time. The defibrillator mentioned before does it instantly, but it takes some time to charge again.

In tournaments, you can respawn, but then you have to use the respawn coins, which are limited, so you need to use them wisely. Also being revived is usually better, because it brings you right back to the action, but it all depends on the playstyle, tactics and current situation.

Customization

There is a battle pass in the game that can be bought only for the premium currency. When you look at the battle pass you can easily see that from the bonuses of premium battle pass, you will easily earn the money for the next season. However, if you want to buy yourself any cosmetics, you have to top up your account. The free battle pass can get you only couple stickers or decorations, but nothing too cool.

On the other hand, you can rarely see yourself in the game itself. Obviously, it’s nice to look cool on the winner’s reveal, but still, it’s first person perspective, so you don’t really NEED it. Some generic skins to the weapons are earned through leveling the weapons up.

Conclusion

Anyway, here is everything you need to know if you’re just starting with THE FINALS. I hope this little guide was helpful.

This game is quick, messy and you’re going to barely know what’s happening. Total destruction, mayhem and misery – love it!

Have a great day and hopefully meet you on the arena!

  1. as a heavy main, they are the most landscape changing, with the ability to both create and destroy, they are the best at building a fortress and destroying one. Id argue another play style for the heavy would be the defense heavy, with the ability to instantly build a strong wall that is nearly unbreakable, goo every entrance, and place a temporary protective shield, they have the most ability for defense, while also having the best weapons for defense. Also their slowness is only a downside when moving, but when defending something you don’t have to move nearly as much. They are probably the best size for defending a cash out station.

  2. as a heavy main they are the best at close quarters alot of his kit can lock down a room if done right or provide protection against ranged with barricade. the shotgun and sledge are the best. the lewis gun and m60 have a problem with horizontal recoil so its hard to keep it straight on and the damage isnt great

  3. I gotta argue against Heavy being the hardest to play in the game. Even with half decent aim, M60 and Lewis are still possible to get a couple hits in at 15-30m for helping the team.

Light I argue is much easier to be useless to a team. Without a proper plan and just going at the enemy leads to swift deaths. Try to fight fair 1v1? Death Sentence to a light.
Not to say light is worthless; Just much harder to make them shine. Unfortunately I think most people don’t catch that early on.
