Throne and Liberty – Endurance vs Evasion

Explanation of Endurance vs Evasion

Whether you should run endurance or evasion is a heavily debated topic. I prefer to run endurance because it synergizes great with the Distorted Sanctuary passive. With stacking endurance I can achieve 1,510 melee endurance and 1,170 magic endurance.

When stacking evasion, you must keep in mind that if you do not stack at least 1,400-1,500 evasion, it is not providing you any benefits against endgame DPS who are running 1,000-1,200 hit. Based on tests completed, a greatsword/dagger with 1,000 hit vs my 1,100 melee evasion only missed once out of the 4 attacks it took for them to kill me with their Adentus sword.

The same greatsword/dagger player with 1,000 hit vs a guildmate with 1,500 melee evasion, missed 4-5 times on average out of the 9-10 attacks it took to kill that guildmate. So if you do not run at least 1,400-1,500 evasion, you are not effectively countering the hit DPS run at endgame.

To achieve enough evasion you have to run a niche build that includes a mix of green, blue, and purple pieces, which is not ideal for healer gearing. Overall, it’s better to run endurance since wand/bow can stack it effectively, or don’t run 4-piece Transcendental set and run gear that allows you to stack range and magic evasion instead, since physical and magic range players don’t have a hit increase passive like greatsword so their hit is usually 800-1,000 on average.

Additionally, you can run more purple gear (with 1-2 blue pieces) for a range/magic evasion build.

So really depends on how you gear, but also know there is a wise way to gear. So you could run weird lower grade pieces to achieve the correct evasion, but you’ll be lacking in raw defenses, better traits, and stats. So it’s very niche people actually force high evasion if they can’t reach it efficiently.

TLDR

  • You can not effectively build defenses to all three damage types. You will always be weak to one.
  • You can not effectively build both evasion and endurance.
  • If you’re dagger and/or SnS, run evasion to build on the weapons’ evasion passives – goal to reach 1500+ with passive.
  • If you’re bow, run endurance to build on the weapon’s endurance passive – goal to reach 1400+ with passive.
  • If you use neither a dagger, sns, or bow, be a good player and also build endurance if you’re not using an evasion necklace or cloak.

Thank you for your time and I hope this little tutorial was helpful to you.
