Your Chronicle – Greed and Research Farming Guide

Quick Guide to Greed and Research Farming

By Sombra the Scribe.

The later half of this guide is for late-game players, since it talks about Envy, and so you may no have everything necessary to use the setups listed, but even so it will help you have an idea on what path to take.

1: What is Greed?

Greed is one of the Sin powers that becomes available for purchase together with Sloth after your first reincarnation.

Its primary use is trading research for effects that last until reincarnation and getting a multiplier on DR, much like Gluttony, its secondary and more late game use is for a high multiplier on sin during reincarnation.

2: Greed’s Routines

Greed has 20 separate routines use research from different areas that are unlocked , except for Valuable Experience, Desire to Collect Rare Enemy, and I Want to be a Child Prodigy, at a rate of one routine per reincarnation you have done AFTER unlocking Greed, provided you also have summons from the relevant area.

3: Desire, DR Multiplier and Sin Multiplier

Desire

  • Every time you examine research on Greed you gain ‘Current Desire’ and the amount depends on your Desire+% and on the routine you’re examining.
  • Every time your ‘current Desire’ reaches your ‘max Desire’ your ‘max Desire” doubles, this has a massive effect on your DR and Sin multipliers.

Dark Ritual Multiplier

  • Greed gives you a DR multiplier that is dependent on your ‘Current Desire’ and ‘Max Desire’, it’s the exactly the number shown on the ‘Multiplier : ‘ on the Greed screen.
  • The ‘Greed multiplier’ stat directly effects this and, outside of secondary equipment, its max is 2.6x.
  • Formula: 0.001(Current Desire)(Max Desire)

Sin Multiplier

  • Greed gives you a Sin multiplier that is dependent on your ‘DR multiplier’, the only way to know this multiplier is on the reincarnation screen or on the statistics section in the options.
  • Since DR multiplier is the factor that provides you your Sin multiplier the ‘greed multiplier’ stat indirectly effects your Sin multiplier.

Formula:

(If DR multiplier <= 1000)
1 + {[(DR multiplier)0.25]/100}

(If DR multiplier > 1000)
1 + {0.5[(DR multiplier)^0.233]}

4: Research Farming

Greed is the single most important component of Sin acquisition in the game so you will want to get a lot of research to power up Envy.

The party section shows you the most optimal party in the game, you may not have access to all the allies needed, if this happens you can use another ally that serer the same purpose. If you don’t have 100% drop chance on a gives stage you need to change some allies until you have 100%.

Party Setup for Non-Rare Research

  • You – Use the fastest attack
  • Queen of Hearts -> Research drop amount
  • King of Diamonds -> Research drop amount
  • Sludge Slime -> Research drop amount
  • Fili -> Research drop amount
  • Shard Herpie -> Luck
  • Libra Chimera -> Luck
  • Genius Golem -> Luck
  • Rune Lizard -> Luck
  • Spellbook Beatle -> Luck

This is the best possible party setup for most research/second for non-rare research. You get FIli in the Magic City’s genius school route. If you don’t have her you should put Joker in her place and lower the pick weed amount by 1

Your research drop chance should mainly come from Arrogant Fairy, if you still need research drop chance you can switch some allies for research drop chance.

You may need to switch to Thunderbolt or wind step for Magic City.

Party Setup for Rare Research

You will ned to swap between 2 party setup while farming, explanation on section 5.

Setup A:

  • Fairy dragon – Use Brain Domination -> Research farm target
  • You
  • Sludge slime -> Research farm target
  • Sacred Bird Chick -> Research farm target
  • Variant Octopus -> Research farm target
  • Libra Chimera -> Luck
  • Queen of Hearts -> Luck
  • Fili -> Research farm amount

5: Where to Farm

Setup for Non-Rare Research Farming

For routines 1 to 12 you should farm dungeon 2 of their respective areas with an infinite AOE and Sloth trick setup, this should wield you about 3,82 research drops per attack.

Sloth setup should look like this:

Dungeon Queue

  • Dungeon 2 from target area

Loop Queue

  • Nothing, you should probably loop resting before turning Sloth on

Other Queue

  • Pick weeds x12 (You can lower this number to 11x or 10x depending on your optimization)

Load THIS template. This setup should bypass the dungeon reset timer. You should use the Magic formation to AOE the dungeon, if you have the equipment on the order listed the AOE should be infinite

Setup for Rare Research Farming

For routines 13, 14 and 15 you should farm DK1 using the Sloth trick setup, DK1 has a 72% chance to summon. You will need to swap betwwen 2 party templates.

Sloth setup should look like this:

Dungeon Queue

  • DK1

Loop Queue

  • Nothing

Other Queue:

  • Pick weeds x40
  • Load Party template A
  • Pick weeds x40
  • Load Party template B
  • Pick weeds x40
  • Load Party template B

6: How to Leverage Research Farming to Get More Complaints

Greed gives you the biggest and most important multiplier on sin gained from reincarnation so you want to get the most desire possible.

Research Runs

The consensus within the community is that, to maximize progression, you should do long research runs and then spend that research across 20-40 reincarnations. So for example if you’re planning on spending 1T on every Greed routine you should do a long research run and farm 20-40T of research on every category.

Examining Research

To maximize Sin multiplier you have to get the most possible Desire and to do that you should try to diversify the greed categories you farm and examine as much as possible.

When the Desire bar fills it doubles your Max Desire and that is a huge multiplier on the Sin multiplier so you should structure your research spending around filling that bar.

Important multipliers to Desire are:

  • Hungry Pig Man (don’t forget to check before examining)
  • Sage’s Grimoire
  • Satiety Envy routine
  • Choosing charisma as your strategy

7: Greed Chart

Shows Greed Level, Research amount needed, and effect strength. The game allows up to 10 Trillion Greed Level ups per Examine (not counting Examine All), so I didn’t go much higher than that.

Observations:

  • Increasing the green-colored Routines by tenfold increases the effect by 12.63% (About 180% at Level 10T)
  • Increasing the orange-colored Routines by tenfold increases the effect by 6.31% (About 91% at Level 10T)
  • Increasing the light blue-colored Routines by tenfold increases the effect by 63.15% (About 888% at Level 10T)
